####...not sure how I feel or what to feel! All I know is that my eyes still hurt from trying to see the damn show. I know the night is dark and full of terrors, but damn I would have liked a little more light to see it!
Plasma for the win here... watched on my old Panasonic 1080p/HBO Go app/roku ultra and the dark scenes were perfectly detailed all the way through.
Also, can we take a moment here to really appreciate how useless Bran is as a character?
Wasn't this conflict basically his whole raison d'etre? He wargs into some birds and then does nothing all episode? I guess there's a chance he has some major role in the war that's upcoming, but jesus christ, the whole Three-eyed Raven/Night King beef was a thing and it just amounted to so much nothing. His entire purpose was bait? Did we really have to suffer through so many of his scenes if he was just bait? haha
That wasn't my interpretation at all. He subtlety manipulated just enough things, to set the Knight King up. The Knight King of very tough to get at behind his army. Almost everything Bran says to people pushes them into doing something subtle that led to Arya being able to jump out like that, with a dagger he gave her.

We really are back to the problems that season 7 had: the plot isn’t subversive or surprising anymore. Characters are cliche and not very smart. Too many interesting subplots are falling by the wayside.
Like: just have Bran die as Arya gets the NK. Then we’d get to think about what it means if history and memory are dead. So simple, would’ve added a lot to the takeaway from the whole series.
Instead, just took a cool assassin. I really loved the action, music and feeling of the episode, but take a risk with the lore!

Great episode, worth the wait. Also, what programming are some of you watching that has your standards well above what GOT is delivering? This #### blows me away, so I can't imagine how impressive the shows you guys are watching are. Any recomendations?

Looking back the only part of that episode that stuck with me was Lyanna Mormont taking out the giant, that was badass. The rest is completely forgettable IMO
Jon running through the castle and bodies literally falling from above constantly really stuck with me. That's when it was like "they're all gonna die" to me.

It was programming that was based on 1000+ page book (that shall not be named in this thread)
Now that AT&T owns HBO and GRRM is no longer writing the story solo it feels a lot less edgy. Still enjoy it a lot but when they made a big deal about the priest dying I knew it was going to be watered down in terms of casualties.
A battle that huge where 95% of the fighters die and almost all the main core characters skate through is a lot unrealistic. The outcome is starting to vaguely resemble one of those dumb superhero movies for idiots where all the main good guys always win and never get hurt... That's why GRRM was always so great... The realism of ppl you like and don't like dying in war and the unpredictability.
But still have faith there will be a plot twist or two. Also even if not will be interesting to see who out of jon/Dany, arya/gendry or one of the lannister crew gets the throne.

I loved it. I can agree with those who feel the show has lost some of the edge of being willing to kill characters and has become more polished and in some ways predictable, but that was still a fantastic episode that lived up to the hype in my eyes. Wow. Emotionally intense experience watching that.

Wow! They better ramp it up the final 3 episodes. After such an awesome episode last week this was a complete letdown. So effing dark and terrible battle strategies. Send the dragons out first!
Also super stupid Arya went all Wong Fei Hung fighting outside of the castle to hiding from raptors in the kitchen a few minutes later... ugh.
Music was amazing though. 10/10! I thought by the end Jon Snow would call time out and the techs from Westworld would pause the dragon. Best part was Lyanna Mormont turning into rice crispies.

Some great payoff to Arya reusing the a similar switch move she pulled on Brienne, and obviously with the dagger that started the whole show's conflict.
The dagger's timeline from what I can recall:
Dagger used by the assassin to try and kill Bran,
Catelyn Stark brings the dagger to King's Landing to find out who sent the assassin,
Littlefinger claims that the dagger was stolen from him by Tyrion,
Catelyn gives the dagger to Ned and leaves to capture Tyrion which starts the whole conflict between the Starks and Lanisters.
6 seasons later Littlefinger brings the dagger back to Bran,
Bran then gives it to Arya.

To those who still hate Stannis, Stannis only burned half as many innocent children as Theon and people really like this guy now, too. Short memories...
