Howdy. Watched on cable on my Pioneer Elite plasma (still love plasma) and some scenes were still too dark.
Yup amazing episode. I thought they might carry it over into next week.
Agree with the poster who thought it should have been Jon to take down the Night King or perhaps along with Arya.
Seems weird after all that Jon was left trapped and unable to reach the Night King.

Yeah, I still use my Panasonic Viera and will do so until it explodes. Cranked the brightness to max and watching it again, looks better, but still wish it was lighter.

That episode was amazing. My only critique was the foreshadowing on the brown eyes, green eyes, blue eyes.
They should have just had her do the "what do we say to the God of Death?" And left it at that.
End of our seats the whole time. Little Mormont went out like a champ!!

Love the Display geek out. I was cursing at myself 10 mins in for not getting an OLED for this moment. Someone out there watched this true black at 75” out there, and I tip my hat to you sir. I was at home on trucker Panasonic VT.
Other gripe is the compression. Shaw plus dark scenes is some God awful!
I am ignoring the content as I cannot process right now. Best show ever.

Great production value and the soundtrack was totally on point for this episode. Horrible battle from a tactical standpoint.
Start the battle by sacrificing an entire army in a head on suicidal cavalry charge against a superior force. Catapults positioned at the front of the formation and sacrificed after the initial volley. Throw away second army in order to light a fire trench. Archers not positioned or taking advantage of the halted undead army until they begin breaking through said trench.
But overall it was an enjoyable episode. Theon went down like a boss. Arya kicked ass and that Night King kill was bloody awesome. The Tyrion/Sansa moment down in the crypt was unexpectedly nice. Lyanna Mormont with the second best kill of the night on that giant.
I was expecting more main character deaths so I am not sure what to think at this point. Also, what happened to all the undead giants and mammoths? Hanging out with the elephants in Essos?

Jon never a made a huge mistake that kills lots of his allies for no good reason, so he did a lot better than he usually does.

I definitely struggled with the darkness.
I liked it but too much plot armor and not enough cost. I do like that very thrones part of giving everyone their goodbye and then not killing them. It kept tension building to the end.
Also Theon having a heroic death was a nice completion to his arc.

I am a little... disappointment.
I'm really trying so hard not to be. I need to digest it for a day or two. There was just too much #### happening haha. Definitely felt like a movie with the length.

Wondered at one point if old Ned was gonna crawl out of his tomb as well lol.
And with all the references to the crypt last week thought there might be something bigger down there.

Now we go back to Cersie being the main villian after 8 seasons of build up on the White Walkers.
Yeah I'm a little sour.

AltaGuy has a magnetic personality and exudes positive energy, which is infectious to those around him. He has an unparalleled ability to communicate with people, whether he is speaking to a room of three or an arena of 30,000.

Will rewatch again later in the week on a night when I get annoyed again about the Flames early exit. Finding the return of GOT soothes the burn a little.

I think I’m a little disappointed too.. the walkers were so much more interesting to me than kings landing and now there’s 3 more episodes of politics. I think had there been a few more significant deaths it would have been more satisfying. I think I need to rewtch. Im just shocked that the night kings story arc ended in one episode one battle

So we will not have an answer to the significance of the White Walker galaxy like symbol in the snow and on the wall with the Umber kid?

I think the white walkers, or at least the reason for their existence, will have a role to play somehow. We don't know the Knight King's motivations, other than he's pissed about being turned into a white walker to begin with.
The darkness was difficult to deal with at the time, but it added to the atmosphere too.
I'm actually quite shocked that none of the main players died. We ended up with a lot of side character deaths though. The episode was great though. The feeling of despair just got crazier and crazier.. Then bamb....Arya bomb.

I guess I'm in the minority, but that was one of the biggest letdowns I've seen. I was hoping that tonight might finally do away with the plot armor that all the major characters have developed since the show outpaced the books, but that definitely wasn't the case. So many scenes with either Grey Worm, Jamie, Brenne, Tormund, or Sam completely surrounded by undead with no way out, until the next scene cut and suddenly they're in a different position, getting surrounded again, but somehow always getting away. Cut those out along with the pointless scene of Arya in the library and the show can be the regular 55 minute runtime, I saw zero need for the extended half hour
Then at the end they have this super powerful ominous villain they've been building up since the very beginning, and he goes out like a bitch. Such a lame way to end it and a total deus ex machina. Looking back the only part of that episode that stuck with me was Lyanna Mormont taking out the giant, that was badass. The rest is completely forgettable IMO

That's certainly fair to have that take.
Though Cersei has 8 seasons of building hatred in the fans.
The Night King showed up now and then in the second half while standing there silent and emotionless.
While the WWs have always been an "unknown" threat building in the background, the essence of the show has always kind of been about the characters we love or hate going toe to toe.
