Well, in the Flames series , the refs were a distant second when it came to putridness of execution and team performance.

Based on this video, it doesn't look like many people left (if any):
https://twitter.com/user/status/1120926012043333635
There was still more than half the third period left when the penalty was called. Less than a minute into the penalty, it was a 3-2 game.

This is why playoffs are as much about luck as anything.
Vegas was absolutely skewered by brutal officiating.
And so were the Flames albeit to a lesser extent.

The sheer dumb-ass rationalizations people can come up with to excuse this outcome are honestly infuriating. "They should have won it before game 7". "They shouldn't have allowed 4 goals on the penalty". These are not reasonable takes. Vegas had the series won. Those four goals would not have occurred but for a terrible decision by the referees. That is how causation works.
If I cut your brake lines, and rather than allowing your car to roll to a stop, you panic, hit the gas, drive into oncoming traffic and get hit by a semi, I don't get to say "it's your fault because you didn't manage the situation well". I cut your ####ing brake lines. It's my fault you're dead. If anyone is having trouble following, I am the referees in this analogy.
As for the comparison to the Flames series, there is no one call that you can say cost the Flames the series. They allowed over 50 shots in back to back games. They got trounced, including at 5 on 5. To the extent the Avs got the benefit of soft calls, they didn't need the help.
This is a single bad decision that, in and of itself, changed the outcome of a playoff series. That's unacceptable, but because it's the NHL, it will be accepted and publicly treated as if it's not a big deal, because the NHL treats its fans like none-too-bright children.

4 goals against in one 5 Min PP ties an NHL record...playoffs or regular season
Its a bad call, shouldn't have cost them the game

Just to nitpick, it wasn’t the referees you should be angry at. The back linesman Brian Murphy made the call. The same Murphy with 2,000+ games worked and a handful of finals. He’ll feel terrible as he should.
I say that as one of the biggest referee haters there is.

That's not even a close comparison. Flames played like crap all series.
The first 50 minutes of the game the Sharks played like the Flames. This game and series was done!

Again, replay next year will change that call.

I myself would appreciate old school. Call on the ice stands. No bull####. Refsi live and die with their mistakes. Way she goes.
Oh I miss old school hockey.

The refs did screw the Flames a bit, but the difference is that if the Flames-Avs series stayed 5v5 the entire time, the result would be the same. Vegas lost only because of powerplay goals

I cant find an example yet.
I just thought 3 goals in a final with Deboer involved was interesting.

Frolik had game 2 on his stick 15 seconds before Mckinnion went the other way. Backlund had game 4 on his stick in OT as well.
For as below average the Flames played, a bit more “luck” and execution in those instances, and we’re possibly rubbing our hands at glee waiting for tonight’s series to end, and hoping the Flames can be sharper in Rd2.

It used to be refs couldn't call what they didn't see.
Like when Torres hit Hossa. A penalty was never called. But now they hear a bang and an injury occured. 5 minutes.

That tweet by the NHL after a brutal call does not look good on them. Adds insult to injury.

Yeah this call will change things I think. Some sort of rule where you can challenge majors separate from other challenges. Not sure how it will work but they shouldn't be able just to make up calls based on an injury.

According to this site, 4. Leafs did it 2011 and Isles did it in 2018. Regular season.

Not really. Their twitter account exists to promote the game, not call out bad reffing.
I’m more concerned with the fact that the tweet makes no sense at all.
