Ryan Kesler made a career out of mauling and injuring guys in the faceoff dot. I don't recall him getting a penalty for it once, let alone a major

Was it a penalty? Was it even worth 2 minutes?
I get the 'kill the penalty', 'overcome adversity', etc stuff............
But this wasn't a legit penalty. It was made up. I would accept all those arguments if it was a legitimate penalty. The refs made the call up.

Thing is they didn't even have to kill it off...they could have allowed two goals which isn't even great PKing
Nearly one goal per PP minute

It's not surprising that NHL officials will simply lie and obfuscate to try to wave away a clear ####-up that caused a series loss. It's typical. But it's still awful.

And? He could of had 20 points. He did not lead them to the cup, nevermind the second round.

Vegas fans getting a rude awakening. To succeed you don't just have to beat the other team, you have to overcome the refs as well.
As much as it sucks to see a team like the Sharks benefit from it, at least Vegas gets to see for the first time what the NHL is really like

After that brutal, almost once in a lifetime, shock to the system, they came back, hit the post once, and then scored to send it to OT. I think they overcame a lot in the last 6 minutes when they had to recompose themselves. A few teams would be quivering in the corner after that turn of events.

Devils gave up 3 goals on one PP in 2012 Final Game 6 to the Kings. Bernier hit Scudeti from behind resulting in a 5 min major.
The DeBoer coached Devils.

hahahaha. Gallant just said the refs told him that Eakins crosschecked him in the face!
Ref should be suspended for 82 games next year.

Just wondering, why are people allow to blame the refs for the loss in this series and not allow to blame the refs for the loss in the Flames series? Reffing has been terrible so far in this playoff and for one, I'm glad somebody else has to suffer with us Flames fans.

You always stay to the end.
My wife and I were at a meaningless mid-season game between the Flames and Ducks back in December 2001. The Flames were losing 4-0 with less than five minutes to go.
"Do you want to leave?" she asked.
"Nah, might as well stay to the end. You never know what might happen." I replied, thinking the Flames might get a goal to at least break the shutout or there might be a good fight.

I don't get this line of thinking. Every team in the league should have a crushing defeat at the hands of the officials so everything is all evened up? What kind of league is that exactly?

So has 4 ever happened? We are talking about a historically bad PK here I think

I have a hunch that if you read way back in the playoffs years that the refs may always have something to do with it. According to my sources anyway.

Can a linesman call a two minute penalty, outside of too many men?
Back when I reffed (mind you it was minor hockey), the linesmen could only call too many men penalties and major penalties. On the Pavelski injury, the referee in the corner did not have his arm up signalling a penalty, I do not know if the back referee initially signaled his intent to call a penalty. The linesman on the blue line nearest the faceoff was the one who realized Pavelski was out cold and waved down the play.
If a linesman cannot call a 2 minute penalty (that’s a big if) and the back referee missed the play (another if), the options would be no penalty or a major penalty for crosschecking (resulting in injury).

Only watched the overtime period as it happened so had to go back to watch the 5 minute major and the PP goals.
What a total screw job. Vegas fans and players should be livid. I don't think there was even more than a weak 2 minute penalty there. Can't believe Vegas' coach and bench didn't go nuts on that 5 minute fabrication.

Maybe I'm in denial about the reality of the officials in the league.

The refs didn’t see it, they saw him fall and the face blood. They didn’t fully see it but that’s the conclusion they came to in the heat of the moment...what else would they tell Gallant on the ice as to why they kicked him out?
Again, replay next year will change that call.
