Only reason? Never claimed that ever.
Primary reason? Probably.
As it always is with this kind of stuff...follow the money.

I'm mid-30's. Happy to see a normalizing situation of competitive political parties in Alberta and the of a one-sided entitlement streak.

Most chiefs and band members were paid in usd to oppose. It's in the Krause audit trail. But let's just talk about all that Rachel can do but hasn't.

Do people understand ballot security?
You cannot open a polling box prior to the end of an election. It’s that simple.
If you did want to change the rules it would be allowing a DRO per advanced poll to tabulate these ballots for all polls. The problem is shipping to Edmonton and then sorting.

Sure, so why can’t they be opened and counted this evening? That’s the part that I don’t understand. Open them at 8:01 and count them as you do the other 87 constituencies?

I think it’s because all the election officers for each riding have to be present for any and all ballot counts. So they would need to be present at the main polling stations for the counts tonight and they can’t be in two places at the same time

That is a reasonable question, the answer being that the DRO for the riding needs to count the votes and the province didn’t accept the recommendation to make that change when the vote anywhere ballots were put in. That should be fixed.
I just get annoyed with this idea that they had 3 days to count them stuff.

So the answer to my question is no, you don't know what their concerns actually are.
Does the identity of their supporters invalidate the merits of their concerns? The 2nd highest court in Canada thought they were valid. I'm going to put a bit more faith in them than persistent whiners who don't even know the details.
FWIW, I'm not exactly a fan of foreign interference (though there are many things higher on my list of 'injustices' in this world).

Seems perfect to me. I wouldn't want computers with so much potential to go wrong there, not to mention they will be obsolete and need replacing before the next election. Pen and paper is cheap, easy and reliable. What system do you think would be better?

If India, a country of 1.3 billion can do it electronically, I don’t see why we can’t. I’m not suggesting we put it online as that is a whole can of worms but there has to be a better way.

At least with Scantron - faster more accurate counting while maintaining a paper trail.

Olympics and the provincial bi-election
The advanced poll ballots they printed for this election were scantron ballots. Were the ballots at the regular polls scantron compatible with the little circles you fill in?

The claim was “Better than pen and paper”. I count pencil and paper as a similar system.
Yes, scantron is the obvious choice. But I don’t see a need for computers (just little scantron checkers).
