Flames are a lock for home ice in the playoffs? Really, I did not know that.

I think the Fan960 sarcastic player profile is jinxing us... this morning they were making fun of Keller and he scores. A while ago they made fun of Benn on the Habs and he made a contribution in the game.

@WesGilbertson
#Flames LW Johnny Gaudreau: “I think we’d rather have things not going great right now and learn from our mistakes, rather than towards the beginning of April when playoffs start. We have to clean up a lot of things and get back after it for the rest of March.”

Bennett likely misses at least a couple games, I’d call up Dube to inject some energy for sure.
Mental fragility has crept into the fans which influences the team. The team needs its fans right now.

People think it’s bull####. But fans are more important than they give credit for. Why does Mike Smith play nervous as f at home? Hmmmmmmmmm “red pads”......!!!!

Fans. Fans matter and right now the fans need to back the team. Fully. And believe in them. It matters. Why did the 04 Flames or Vegas last year or any team do well? Good teams most importantly but also the belief structure which fans are a part of.

Honestly, it was a hyperbole. I am capable of understanding where they are in the standings. I'm disappointed more than pissed off. But slumps don't feel good; it feels like doom and gloom. So I'm just expressing what came to mind.

Just reminiscing...

The Flames missed the playoffs last season.

They have been remarkably productive on and off the ice , in building a team that has led the conference for the majority of the season.

They have a 3-4 year window as a contender.

They have been top 4 offensively, top 10 defensively, most of the season.

They have , at this point, 5 players with more than 60 points. The last time that happened was the powerhouse Penguins in 1993.

Their coach , GM and top D are all in strong consideration for major awards.

Gaudreau and Lindholm will get strong support for other awards.

They have 4 very strong young stud D who are 22 or younger.

Their goaltending has been average to below average ( most of the season).

Historically, the team has been to the SCF 3 times, winning once.

This team , IMO, outside of the Cup winning team in 89, is the most talented team ever.

They will learn a lot more about who they are and what it will take to win in the SC playoffs during this losing spell than they will from 7 game winning streaks.

My advice, patience and endurance.

If it was easy, anybody could do it.

All the folks who think the sky is falling need to relax. Jesus guys, it’s a slump. The key is for the flames to get ******* mad. Sure didn’t see that tonight. Take it out on those Vegas punks on Sunday.

Concern about goaltending: fair

But all these super dramatic posts about it being a mediocre franchise, how the team is a disgrace, how the core always wilts, how the season is a write off etc, etc are way over the top.

Even this 4 game stretch isn’t as bad as people are making it out to be.

Minnesota: Actually a good played game with lots of high quality chances but done by poor goaltending

Toronto: Probably one of the best games in a while from a perspective of generating chances but too many defensive breakdowns and some poor goaltending.

Vegas: Great, hard fought playoff battle. Fought to the end and probably deserved (and earned if the league makes the right call) at least a point.

Phoenix: Probably the most flat performance of the bunch but also a back to back after a late start, 3 games in 4 nights with travel and a time zone change between all of them.

Regroup, take the day off tomorrow, and let’s see how the look Saturday.
Do you think Calgary’s top 6 has shut it down for the rest of the season?

I don’t.

So true IMO. Smith seems so dependent on confidence and our fanbase jeers him at the drop of a hat. I hate that so much.

Yeah, I saw that. And unlike you, I don't believe everything I read and checked for myself. He posted in a just a small handful of PGTs and mainly sticks to other threads suggesting ways to improve the team and seems like a legit fan. But continue with the mob mentality and take pride in running an 11 year member out of here!

Brett Wilson (who bought into Ceili's last year) bought out a location in his building on 17th Ave (formerly Classic Jack's, Roosevelt, Hostel under same ownership) and moved a new Ceili's in. He bought it because he wanted to capitalize on the Flames playoff revenue that comes from 17th Ave (he even tweeted about it being ready for "a deep playoff run").

Since they opened the Flames have gone 0-4 and have scored 5 goals in 4 games.

Brett Wilson is a co-owner of the Nashville Predators.

Obviously we blame Brett Wilson.

(Green text?)

But this is boring Gully hockey again for some reason. Zone entry is abysmal. Very few high danger chances (based on eye test, don't know what advanced stats say but record speaks for itself). Transition is sloppy. Still have faith that this team is in their slump now, especially the top guys, and I'd rather see them slump now then in 4-5 weeks.

Go Flames Go

(FU Brett Wilson)

If you only post after losses its pretty obvious you are just here to be negative

Call me a homer if you want...all the over the top negative posts are always the same posters/thanked by the same posters

the same posters who said in the preseason this wasn't a playoff team, bubble team at best.

Place has a search function, its not all that hard to figure out what certain posters are all about

Agree with this - more a statement on my part than a criticism of the team.

This team has had a killer month of travel going back to the all star break and haven’t had many days off since then. Would not be surprised at all if fatigue is catching up a little bit - they don’t look quite as fast or as focused as earlier in the season.

I’d love nothing more than to see a loud and playoff like atmosphere for that Knights - Flames game on Saturday.

Have to stay positive, boys. All I wanted this year was a playoff spot. So far we still have one. Hopefully they can knock the rust off sooner than later.

It's sad how a sports team can cause such disrupt in your life. All week, my wife has said I'm not my happy normal self, and seem grumpy. Thanks Flames for ruining both our weeks.
