I’m not going to be super disappointed if we stay pat today. I have vivid memories of the last time we went deep into a big name at the deadline and it was the start of the complete destruction of our team.

"Clearly" the favourite? No. There is not really a clear favourite.

It's like negotiating with street/beach vendors on vacation.

At some point they aren't coming down from their prices so you walk away and damn if they don't chase after you with a new "lowest price".

OR Tre saw that the other teams shopping for scoring have already picked someone up and knows he's one of the few dance partners left, now he's letting the Sens know that it's gonna be a good deal or nothing.

We should counter them by offering them Frolik for Chabot....

I'm not going to lose any sleep over the Flames walking away if they felt that the price was too high. In interviews the Flames basically stated that if they're going to trade their first or high prospects that the person coming back better be part of the core going forward.

It the Sens weren't allowing teams to talk to Stone's management team, then they were playing on teams hopes that they could sign him with no guarantee that he would.

The Flames aren't going to pay a premium on hope, so good for them for standing pat. Hopefully Dorian gets stuck holding the bag on Stone and they lose him over the summer.

Ron Francis comes to mind.

But even if you are somewhat right, you do not blow your entire asset base to get a winger that would become your highest paid player by a country mile to retain and at the same time driving you to lose existing roster players in the summer to do so.......that's just bad management.

Valimaki for Stone favours Ottawa.

RFA future top pairing d-man for a UFA winger? Yeah, Ottawa wins that one.

Ottawa can throw in next years first, and *maybe* that evens out the deal.

Honestly Ottawa has nothing that matches Valimaki.

He was referring to Mark Stone here. So Calgary is out. And Winnipeg is out.

Don Maloney telling me moments ago, the #Flames were “in on something big” last night but that it fell apart.

Again, they are not willing to use their high end prospects for a rental.
This almost reads like that Chris Dragon guy on Twitter had some legit info. He basically said the trade was super likely to be announced a few hours after the game, and then a few hours later said the flames are almost certainly right. Sounds like it was close and then the flames walked away.

Call me an optimist, but this sounds like posturing to me. I could see him going to the flames still.

Ottawa almost HAS to trade Stone now. They are going to lose him for nothing otherwise.

The wizard doesn't have to do anything...team is 2nd place with high offensive numbers.

You wait for your price or skip it.

Mark Stone is like a pair of knockoff Oakleys

Dorion let Karlsson walk for NOTHING and gave away Hoffman for a song. He's a terrible GM. Don't be surprised if he loses Stone for nothing as well.

Flames are right to protect team chemistry. Sometimes things are greater than the sum of their parts. No rentals.
