It's not only about this year for them. They have to sign 2 or 3 big guys in the offseason, so they have to be conscious of that. I'm not surprised at all, but they'll likely deal for a depth dman if I were to guess.

I have TSN on as I’m getting ready for work so am half tuning in.... but I’ve seen Huberdeau’s name quietly on the board without much mention (unless I missed it). Is he in fact in play out of Florida? If so it seems he’s not getting as much noise as I would assume. Any word on the asking price on him?

That said, Tre should not trade him. If anything, it is Valimaki who should be traded.

Valimaki shouldn't be traded. He will be a top 2 defender for the club in a few years. In my opinion he is better than Kylington and will prove to be more valuable to the Flames.

The cap challenges going forward are precisely why they should be looking at a rental and taking a shot this year.

Things are only going to get tougher for them going forward.

Anyway, my point was simply that it is bizarre that there is absolutely no talk surrounding the Leafs. Not even a depth defenseman.

His name was suggested a few weeks back but the club has flatly stated that they have no interest in trading Huberdeau away. Hoffman is also unlikely to be moved out as he's been a good add to the team and likes it in Florida.
