I'd rather keep rolling with Czarnik and let Neal recover than pay anything for Simmonds.

Treliving isn't a trade deadline gambler as I suspected, I guess. Sure hope he sees something in his wizard crystal ball.. we're going to need a bit more good fortunate, now..
I think there are still a lot of good players out there Tree can pick up. What BT probably saw in his crystal ball was Valimaki turning into an excellent top 2 defender for many years to come.

With Stone out of the equation, hopefully the Flames can concentrate on alternative players and still improve the team's depth without sending out our top prospect.

I'm assuming you're talking about Zuccarello or Nyquist here...I think they likely would have liked to be in on these guys, but not having our 2nd this year really hurts because teams would rather have the pick sooner rather than later.

I agree. Czarnik speed has added a whole new dimension to that line.

Do you have confidence that the refs will call the post whistle shenanigans in the playoffs?

I don't. I'd rather have an on ice deterrent who can play 16 minutes a night.

John Shannon reporting that asking price for Simmonds is 1st rounder and a prospect.

Stay the hell away from him at that price.

I just want to dress the best hockey players. I don't think this is a legitimate concern in the NHL in 2019.

Dorion thinks he can get Valimaki and Fletcher thinking he can get a 1st for Simmonds?

This is starting to reek of desperation in a buyer's market, and it's already being made public early that the asking prices for a lot of these big fishes are way too high.

We will get someone on the cheap, mark my words.

Although I'm sure timing plays into it (waiting for the Stone hammer to drop until last night), it is disappointing the Flames didn't manage to get Nyquist, Zuccarello or Hayes. I have faith we'll get something, but to me Simmonds or Hoffman is looking more and more likely now.

Stone is going to wait for the open market when the season is done, IMO. More options to play where he wants and under his terms.

Madness. He's not worth that at this stage of his career. Good luck getting that return from any team.

I find it curious that there is absolutely no noise surrounding the Leafs. I can't believe that they think they are non-factors for the playoffs. But I also can't believe they think they can get by Tampa and Boston as they currently sit.

Just seems weird that they aren't part of the rumour mill.

I was explaining trade deadline day to my 3 year old. In his own words...

“Maybe the Oilers will switch their team with the Flames so they will be better.”

Sorry kid. Hard no.

Considering their cap situation going forward, and cap situation for this year - they should have been all in on Rentals.

I'm surprised Oliver Kylington didn't play a single minute for Glen Gulutzan's Flames. Gully must have not liked him, eh?

That said, Tre should not trade him. If anything, it is Valimaki who should be traded.

Just like the Flames, not willing to gut the team (now or in the future) for
someone who may or may not be there next year.
