I'm not advocating making trades for the sake of making trades... but it would be pretty disappointing to be rumoured in on EVERYONE and then standing pat at the deadline.

Granlund would fit the second line like a glove. Was surprised to hear that MIN might be shopping him. Have no idea what it would take to acquire though. I presume a lot.

Not doing something is still doing something. The team is in first at what is hopefully the beginning of their window. No pressure to make a move just because SJ and WPG did

I think we need to do something today to bolster our line up
As of right now every team around us that will be competing for the west has improved, we should look to do the same

I am on board for not blowing assets at the deadline. Roll with what we have and see what happens.

I've been as excited about Stone as anyone; and if we knew he was going to re-sign I would have been okay with the Kylington/Dube/1st/Conditional 1st idea. I think Stone is that good.
That being said, it takes some brass balls to stand pat and I am totally okay with that because:
1) If Stone isn't re-signing, it would be a disastrous cluster of an offseason with depleted assets (when we desperately need our high-end draft picks);
2) I don't think this team is the cup favorite even with Stone; it definitely makes it more interesting but this is a year to gain playoff experience and solidify our young defensemen in the playoffs. I know that once the playoffs start it's a crapshoot and anything can happen, and I know it's not the sexy thing to say - but it's what I think is true.
3) We are a young and talented team with only one debatable bad contract in Neal; we have excellent contracts in place with our stars and arguably the best young blue line in the league.
All of which to say, there is no reason to mortgage any of that flexibility if you have even the slightest doubt that Stone re-signs here; I have to believe that his brother has at least a pretty good indication as to whether or not he would, so if the Flames are out I have to believe it's either 1) because the ask is too high (in which case, Bravo Brad) or there is some doubt as to whether he would stay in Calgary, either based on location or $ (in which case again, Bravo Brad).
This team is in a good place. There is great chemistry and management that recognizes what it already has and who it may or may not presently be. Let's get the top two lines scoring again, maybe add a bottom six forward at a low price, and let's enjoy the hell out of the rest of this thing.

With how everything's going, I think we're getting Simmonds, just feels very Flames like to acquire him last minute.

So now if Flames act and posture to the market that they are out then the market could come down. Depends on how seriously involved Vegas and Boston truly are, or if it really was Flames and Jets as the main contenders as first rumored.

Vegas.....they can squish anyone elses offer if they choose to do so.

The emergence of Czarnik and Mangiapane of late really closes adds depth to the roster that wasn't evident before that.

Wennberg still an option too. Lots of decent players to get in on IMO.
I'd be pretty happy with any tier 2 player honestly.

Dube has been excellent in the AHL and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him come up and be a contributor in the the playoffs.

I love how Treliving just builds up the drama by doing last minute things. Keeps us engaged till the very last second.

Could've had either of two good top six players for a pretty reasonable cost. And I thought for sure they'd get onto Hayes as a plan B.
Treliving isn't a trade deadline gambler as I suspected, I guess. Sure hope he sees something in his wizard crystal ball.. we're going to need a bit more good fortune, now..

We could of afforded a lot of useful players. I'll be disappointed if we dont get anything, considering the prices for some players. I assumed we would get Stone after not getting anyone else... I think the Flames are okay without any addition but sure would love one.
