I don't think the acquisition cost is going to drop as much as teams hope. Since there's so many they'll Jack the prices up anyways. Let the jets trade Ehlers +++. I'm happy with other guys out there.
Watching the rags/caps game now, the color guy for NBC said Kreider is not being traded....didnt catch the context but i guess he aint moving

Worst part about this thread is the trade ideas..

Ppl who think players like Tkachuk or Bennett are going to be traded in the deal are nuts.

A lot more in common with #12 than not.
Plays like him but lacks the Nastiness. When Iggy was pissed look out. Stone is not like that.

That's only part of a deal that's conditional on an extension. Stone has no say if he's just rented.

As for what he wants - I doubt there's much between Winnipeg and Calgary aside from money. He's from Winnipeg, his brother is here, they both have Canadian taxes, they are both strong rosters. Calgary is a nicer city generally unless you are a mosquito.

Completely agree.

Picks & prospects most likely if it happens at all.

Sure, but few players have that explosive edge like Iggy had.

He's also a Western Canadian guy, right handed shot, and can routinely put up 20-25 with a depleted supporting cast.

To say he's nothing like Iginla is inaccurate.

Or does he just wait to July 1 and choose from 31 destinations?

Some people just don't get the idea of teams that are stocking up for the POs and those that are rebuilding and what they would want.

My guess is Winnipeg is offering less to Ottawa and paying a rental price because they feel they can convince him over the summer to sign there.

Flames are paying probably a full player and pick more, but want to get him locked down now for their own certainty moving forward and not have to do the dog and pony show for him in June, even though I think they could convince him to re sign here just as easily.

News Update

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
At last check #Flames still very interested in Mark Stone, but Ottawa’s price is “ridiculously high”.

Sense is Sens starting point is multiple 1sts + one of Valimaki, Andersson, Kylington + more. Calgary extremely happy with current group. Not willing to sell the farm.

Yeap good. Don't go bonkers. I want Stone, but I'd rather take our chances with the current group and then take a run at Stone in free agency where it costs no assets.

I didnt agree that he doesnt play like him, he has alot of similarities to mid career Iggy. He just lacks the nastiness.

If we view shift by shift you can see a ton of things they do alike, they even have a similar skating style, Iggy was just grumpy hahaha

It's only 30. Seattle can't sign him yet and Edmonton doesn't count.

Tre won't lose perspective - if he can't make his deal work he will walk.
