The plan is for Stone to take Tkachuk's spot on the power play so Tkachuk's numbers fall down (although he's now below ppg anyways) so Tkachuk has to take a lowball deal.

Then with Mark Stone officially signed, trade away Mike Stone for cap space.

Oh and James Neal on a rocket to the sun.

Agreed. Stone is more comparable to Marian Hossa in my view, which is why I'm okay with them going all in for him.

Stone seems pretty well rounded. Good shot. Good finish. Can get dirty goals as well as perimeter goals. Carries the puck well. Some playmaking ability. Good defensively.

LeBrun's latest update:

https://theathletic.com/835305/2019/...about-winning/

has WIN, BOS, CGY, NSH in there with NYI and VGK to some degree

Vegas won't do Stone as a rental.
Calgary wants to know if they have a very good shot at re-signing stone at least before pulling the trigger

he also notes that as of Sunday morning other teams weren't given permission to talk to Stone's agent

his money is on the Jets but the price needs to drop some before the Jets go all in
Jets other options include Simmonds and Hayes

the Sens may make one final offer to Stone on Sunday to try and sign him

so do the Flames have permission to talk to Stone or is it still in the air?

I can see Melnyk wanting to see what other teams are offering Stone and then matching or bettering the offer.

Dont see the Sens really caring about Brodie in a rebuild.

Simply do not believe this.

The Sens know what it will take to sign him and don't want to pay that (or how it's structured), or he has made it clear he is not interested in staying in Ottawa through a rebuild at any price....period.

So either Eugene ponies up or Dorian is holding out to see if teams will increase offers last minute if in fact that many clubs are still in this thing.

I do think that if the price does come down to something more palatable, and teams are in, Winnipeg can put together a better package. The Wpg GM is a pretty patient guy but I think there is a tad more desperation there for a shakeup.

The more I think about it, I really think our biggest hole is 2nd line wing. Stone is tantalizing but perhaps a cheaper upgrade would be better.

So the Senators want a 1st + two strong assets, and a conditional pick if Stone re-signs or how far team goes in the playoffs...

Sam Bennett and Mark Jankowski would probably be considered strong assets from the Flames but would Austin Czarnik, Andrew Mangiapane and Dillon Dubé also be considered a strong assets?

Ugh, really don't want Stone going to WPG. That team is already stacked with big, top-6 forwards.

So Treliving can't talk to Stone or his agent yet. Nothing stopping Mike from giving Mark a friendly brotherly phone call though, right?

If the Sens expect the price they are asking they better allow other GMs to talk to his agent or they are not getting near that return

TIL. Mark Stone's agent is Craig Oster. Agent and uncle to Matthew Tkachuk.

Still love the idea of Kreider. Cheaper to get and is essentially Stone lite.

I don't think the acquisition cost is going to drop as much as teams hope. Since there's so many they'll Jack the prices up anyways. Let the jets trade Ehlers +++. I'm happy with other guys out there.

Easy ways around that.
Imo GG wasn't relieved of duties this time a year ago mainly because Treliving knew what was coming down in Carolina and the fallout from the ownership change.

He’s playing for the Rangers today, so I’m not sure that he’s on the trade block.

I dunno. Hard nosed, not afraid to go into the tough areas, larger body, leadership skills, high give-a-#### meter, and can score goals.

A lot more in common with #12 than not.

Yeah, I saw that. Hayes is sitting again, though.

Part of the negotiation as well is where does Stone want to land. Would he choose Calgary over Winnipeg?
