I don’t claim to know the market well enough to have a specific goalie in mind, but I do think we need to be willing to pay more for goalies than we have in the past. Instead of always searching in the discount bin or mystery box, let’s use that 1st rounder and/or Kyllington to target someone who can be more of a sure thing (as much as a goalie can be). A 1st around Draft time has pretty good value. With this team I don’t think we have time to dick around, so we need to follow what Toronto/Arizona did and pay up for an up and comer in his mid/late 20s, or a sure thing vet who can be a rock behind Rittich.

Other than that, I would honestly look at signing Cam Talbot if he doesn’t re-up with Philly. I think him and Rittich could be a solid pair.

With the trade for duchene I can see CLB treating Bob and panarin as rentals and just run with it.

You only keep all three as Kekalainen if you're confident the team can make a very deep run, possibly to the Conference Finals.

But they probably can't, and I don't think Jarmo offered up two 1sts if he didn't have a plan to recoup back some 1sts.

Hard to say they're "going for it" if Panarin is still apparently on the table. If by that you mean going for a cup I don't think they're nearly good enough, even if they do keep Panarin. If you mean they just want to make the playoffs, it might be worth a goalie downgrade in order to improve their defense.

It would be senseless to trade for a rental and then give up UFA’s to be. Especially their starting goaltender.

I agree with you but If I remember correctly he did get the Foo signing right. From looking at his twitter page he seems to have recently started a podcast and interviewed Elliott Friedman. For whatever that’s worth.

He also had rumours of Hamonic to Calgary a few days before the deal I believe (and before anyone else reported on it).

He may have a source somewhere.

Rumours are rumours, not all of them come to fruition.

I'd definitely keep Dube. Dube has top 6 upside and Mangiapane is pretty capped as a bottom 6 energy guy
