My one hesitation with all this trade talk with Stone is that it feels like our priorities are a bit misguided. We’re looking to offload some our most valuable assets to shore up a forward group that is already playing at an elite level. Yet we all know the Achilles heel that could topple this group is goaltending. I know it’s an issue that will probably not be fully addressed till the summer, but I’m not really sure I want to risk a 1st and Kyllington on a potential rental, if we’re going into the playoffs with a tandem that is about as trustworthy as Elliot/Johnson were a couple of years ago.
If this is the tandem we are going with, I’d rather just roll the dice with the forward group we have, and use those assets in the summer to get a bonafide #1.

Dreger talking on TSN now and I realized.... if Ottawa trades Stone to Calgary (conditional 1st assumed) and Calgary beats San Jose in the playoffs, and Stone doesn’t re-sign, Ottawa loses 2 conditional 1sts.
San Jose’s 2nd (Karlsson) turns into a 1st if they make the cup final.
Calgary’s offer would have to equal one of Ottawa’s div rivals in my opinion.

Nothing could be as bad as Elliott that year. We were in that series everywhere else.

That is very interesting. I'm sure Dorian doesn't remember that though.

The easy solution there is to make the 1st be conditional upon either the Flames making it to the Final or Stone re-signing. I'm sure Treliving would be willing to do that without hesitation.

2018/2019 Trade Speculation and Rumors
Eric Francis mentioned that there’s several NY Rangers scouts in town to watch tonight’s game. If this is any indication, it looks like any trade involving the Blueshirts will likely include a roster player in today’s lineup.
It could honestly be any one of Zuccarello, Hayes or Kreider. Obviously we’ve heard a lot about the Flames’ interest in Zuccarello, but I wonder if Tre is looking more at a Kreider. Toughness, big, heavy game with playoff experience and not a rental.

What if it's Smith for Lundqvist

Could be, but Treliving was just at Madison Square Garden scouting the Rangers the other day. Put 2 and 2 together and it looks like the final step before a trade is made.
The Rangers have some good forwards available at reasonable prices. Seems like a possible trade partner.

Not bad period by CGY. It’s tough slogging out there but it seems period was played how ANA wanted it.
CGY needs the tempo up. Move the puck quick and get into the zone. Play their game (speed, Skill)

C’mon, you have to at least try here.
Columbus trades a bunch to get Duchene, obvious to ever poster here save one that they are going for it. And you have them trading their starting goalie?

Both Czarnik and Mangiapane had good periods. They each had a quality scoring chance and looked solid on both ends and in board battles. Good showings for both players.
