No the other white spots that remain were a completely different chain that were popular in bc.
They couldn’t come into this market until the other white spots went bankrupt

There was one on 16th ave where there is a pub now and one on 33 ave sw.
Yep that was fine dining when I was a kid. A big step up from Ponderosa.

A pretty high quality vid from the NFB.

Fascinating, no matter the cold war era videos how simple the evsc procedure would be, though the kids running out of school randomly looks a bit chaotic.

And the City controller smoking a pipe. Of course.

Remember when some employees at Superstore wore rollerskates?

I definitely recall this at the 36th Street N.E. location.

The cars! The tiny city! The motorcycle cop with a sidecar. Poor scouts always doing the dirty work. The nostalgia in this is huge. Mostly the cars are awesome.

I remember that from the Edmonton stores in the late 80’s too. Watched one dude take a pretty good fall when he hit a small rock fragment on the floor. And nobody wore helmets either.

Into the early 2000's as well. My wife worked at the Superstore in Westhills around 2002 and they were still there.

I worked in electronics and photo that year.

Met Jordan Leopold, we had the same first name. It was great

There was one on 32 Ave NE. When I looked for it on Google Maps I see a place called Bootleggers is there now. I moved away in '86 but I recall we went to that White Spot a couple of times.

Can confirm, I was a price checker in 2007 and wore roller blades all the time. They encouraged it and wanted us to wear them.

I worked produce at Superstore in early 2000's.

One of our friends was the rollerblader and when a bunch of us worked together, we used to collaborate and set Home Alone style traps for him in the store to try and make him bail.

Our favorite was fake paging him to go to a certain area of the store and pour a bit of water at some corners.

Water + rollerblades + shiny Superstore tile floors = trouble.

Those were the days. No helmets, no safety protocols. No one cared about their jobs cause we were young.
I bet you couldn't get away with having rollerblading price checkers in stores these days due to liability/safety issues.

I was always envious of my friends with grocery store jobs. It just seems like they spent lots of time messing around as opposed to work. Just seemed like such a fun atmosphere!

It was fun. We used to crazy glue Loonies and Toonies to the floor in the produce area. We'd then hid behind the doors to the back room and watched through the small windows as customers tried to chisel them off the floor with their car keys

It definitely does or at least did, I can't remember which bar it was (This is like 6 years ago) but a friend of a friend brought me to a seedyish bar at the end of a night out, it had a central bar and 1 pool table, about all I can remember. I think we started at schanks? so it must've been in the crowfoot area. Anyway, bunch of cougars, like, jesus. I've never had so many women buy me drinks, I actually had to like grab my buddy's friend and be like let's gtfo of here because one decided to just full on stick her tongue down my throat out of nowhere
