Calgarians travel to Edmonton all the time and secondly, he never knew the Oiler autograph session was happening
Unless he shouts out something at the Oiler players and fans, it's no different than wearing a rival jersey to a game.
A final update from a few days ago to bring closure to the situation. I did what was suggested of me. A #### eating grin walking by all the players and fans. Hundreds of "boos" rained down upon me.
I turn around and I say; "I am sorry you're all so upset" at the legion of no good standing in line for McDavid. "I am sorry that my team is performing so much better than yours."
They replied: "we'll see in the playoffs." To which I quipped: "you actually have to make it in first!"
This was followed by silence. Mission was a success. I am glad you all enjoyed it. This was followed by a flames win against the 'Yotes and an oilers loss to the same team. To witness their tears live is something I can now cross off my bucket list. It was priceless.

Tobias Rieder, with 0 goals in the 59 games the Oilers have played this year, played in the overtime. Most teams go down to 3 lines in overtime and there are two forwards on each line. Edmonton was going all out to win at the end, so one could only assume that the Oilers were playing their top 6 offensive forwards in overtime. Let that sink in.

To be fair, of their forwards playing last night, the 6th highest goals total among them is 4, so reider isn’t too far off.
In fact, they only had 7 forwards playing yesterday that have scored a goal as an Oiler this season.
Has anyone listened to the latest instalment of David Staples's "Cult of Hockey" podcast? (Is there a more appropriately named podcast than this? Staples's Oilers devotion is certifiably fanatical)
At 06:10 Staples and McCurdy begin discussing Coughie McDayquil's health. Here is a transcript:
Bruce McCurdy: The elephant in the room was the absence of the Great Connor McDavid from this game, due to illness. This is becoming a recurring theme with this player that is starting to disturb me a little bit. Last year you will recall he had a string of four or five or six weeks where they were saying he was under the weather; he was missing practices—he never missed any games. This year he was recorded under the weather in October, November; in December he missed one game there, tonight he missed another game now in February. So, it seems to be a recurring issue, and, I mean, I know guys get sick, but how often do they miss games anyways? The Oilers obviously missed him in this game and for a long time there in the second period I was saying to my wife, "This 1-0 deficit looks like a mountain; who in the hell is going to score?"
David Staples: So, first, come on! This is not just any man. He's not just any man! He doesn't get just any man-cold! He gets "THE SUPERSTAR MAN-COLD™"! Alright? So, just go easy on him!

Its funny because all of this McDavid worship will have unintended consequences in that locker room. Player no matter what they say do hear the media and fans. The whole narrative that Connor is awesome and the rest of the team is shyte will cause fractures in that room, leading to a F that guy sentiment by some of those players. We've already seen hints of players not caring all that much, or rushing to their team mates defense.

it makes you wonder if he reads his own work a little bit later and cringe self-fellates.
