not sure about these "losing the toughness battle" comments?
Calgary lost 4-3 on the road with the Caps scoring in the last minute on a power play...after a 10 day vacation
Calgary lost because of an absolute laser over Smith's shoulder...
losing Hamonic hurt...not super impressed with the discrepancy in penalty calls... didn't really see where lack of toughness lost the game...

Cassie’s hit of the night t’d me off a bit - first of all it was a Caps hit and second that was a blatant missed interference call by the refs.

Come on now...first goal was his turnover. Smith cost the Flames another game

How much did it cost? $19.89, plus tax for the CRL?
Either way, it's ok. Rittich is playing against Carolina and the Flames will win by a score of 15 to negative-3. The Flames will be fine.

They would have to make comments on that scrum at the end.

I’d go with or better, he was bang on 900 tonight. Too many shots given up

I just rewound the game on my PVR it to the 3rd goal.
Tkachuck blocked the view on Wilson's body but Smith had full view of the puck on Wilson's stick so there was no screen on the shot
Poor quality still, but you'll see Smith had a good view of the puck before Wilson's shot:
and heres when the puck leaves Wilson's stick:
There was zero screen

Actually we were dominating that one before Smith let in a Smith goal and let the wheels fall off.

I think the quality start number is .917 or .918. And the average NHL backup goalie is like .908.
With the amount the Flames score Smith should generally win with a .900. If they gave up 40 shots on Smith I guess they kind of sealed their own faith on that one.

My main concern from this game is Hamonic. I sure hope he is OK. Peters had no update in his media availability.

What I don't like about this game is it gives teams like Anaheim hope that they can cheapshot their way through a series with us.
We don't have the gritty response in our lineup.

Don't be silly. Anaheim isn't coming close to the playoffs, of course.

I don't know, that picture sure looks like Chucky's foot could be obscuring the shot. Obviously he was trying to block the shot, so he's actively trying to put his skate in the way of the shot, which I believe obscured the release from Smith.

A healthy dose of playoff reality for this Flames club. Brad T: make some moves to make us tougher.

I think I would agree if it was a bang bang play. It wasn't, it went on for a bit before the Caps scored. So no, I don't believe he was totally at fault for that one.
The 3rd goal.....yikes. He has to stop that.
The winning goal was on a Backlund penalty and a great shot top shelf.
I do not believe he cost the team the win.

Some heavy hits by WAS along boards (Mangiapane) and just physical hockey was good for CGY to feel. Give them a hint of what meaningful games will be like.
See how they respond Sunday.

Gaudreau just about had a goal with 3 seconds left. Just barely hit Holtby’s pad, holtby hadn’t even reacted to it.
