Interactions between Pierre and Gene would be legendary.

And also because I believe he would be legitimately terrible at his job.

Dustin Penner was on today's Spittin' Chiclets podcast talking about being out on Whyte Ave for a few drinks with Matt Greene (who had a broken ankle and was on crutches) and being challenged to fight and being followed to their car by a group of guys!

Literally every former Oiler that appears on that podcast talks about how bad it is to play there.

And when they had Hanifin on before the season started and after the trade, they were telling him what Calgary was like. I believe Whitney said its like Edmonton, but better in every way.

He is at the top of the list for my favourite GM candidate

He’s go deeper than that.

These guys played together in the Stouffville Atom league under the tutelage of James McNair, a legend in that hockey community, so you know they have chemistry.

And James McNair told me his thoughts on Jerry York, so I traded a 1st for Boston College's 1st line winger.

He's going to be an animal with McDavid obviously. Has great glutes and skates with a lot of passion and drive.

He said something along the lines of “it’s 3 hours down the road but it may as well be 3 light years, it’s just that different”

I love it, Edmonton gets crapped on all time on that show and they deserve every single bit of it.

There is so much more gold in that interview.
- Lowe apparently making a speech to the team using JFK’s quote (it’s not what your country does for you, but what you do for your country) & totally bungling it up.
- Lowe taking Penner our for supper prior to his 2nd season and telling him that they see him as a young Bob Probert... HAHAHA. He was like... “uhm do you know who you signed?”
- Some girl working at a grocery till in EDM telling Penner she’s the only one in her house that doesn’t hate him.
- He scored 30 goals for those ingrates and they relentlessly booed him.
The interesting part is how they explained the post Oiler bump. It’s one of the hardest places to play, so every where else is easier on a player.

Don’t forget an overwhelming puck presence and sound hockey iq.

Pierre’s problem with trying to sound like the smartest guy in the room, and making things up things that supposed regular viewers don’t, and the continuing to go to the well on that analysis, made him wore out his welcome with TSN and fans here who could see through his fancy words and melodramatics.

But back when he seriously thought he should be considered for the Pens job.

This is EXACTLY the type of PR stunt Lowe would be all over. And, because he can insert himself in Pierre’s ear, and maintain control of things, justified by Pierre and his lack of formal experience.

Lowe is outright delusional, trying so hard to modernize the 80s Oilers, so none of this is a surprise. He went in there with that speech as president of hockey operations.

And for when players don’t lick his boots or push back and or want out, like clock work, he calls up Staples, Jones, Spector, Matheson and the crew to likely rip said player, knowing thst the press know that’s its now their duty to lay the ground work for this guy leaving so the fans hate him, which means his departure will overshadow the return, and, the mismanagement of said player while he was an Oiler.
As Flash said in another thread, you saw the media up there turn on Chia is the matter of a few days 4 or 5 weeks ago. Fans lap it up, national media picks up the story, and it’s suddenly now all Chias fault, signing of Koskinen is Chias fault, and it just covers up all the ineptitude that Chia had to deal with when hired, and again when the coup from the executive was playing itself out.
