When you have to put out a video saying your star wants to stay, you may have a problem.
Don't see other clubs putting out mid-season videos of stars in the 1st year of long contracts saying they want to stay.

Is being a certifiable weirdo a pre-requisite to work in Edmonton media?

No problems in Edmonton - didn't you watch the video? No one in Edmonton since Chris Pronger has wanted to leave there, and that wasn't because of Edmonton, but because of family issues.
I can't believe no-one since Pronger has not requested a trade - for whatever reason.
I think Bob was right during his press conference - there is something wrong with the water up there - they are being drugged if you ask me - that's why they want to stay... and lose.

I just recently watched the movie 'Get Out' and am noticing a startling number of similarities....I'm just sayin'...

It's a prerequisite for working in any media and I say this as someone who previously worked in media.

Don’t believe it. He’s full of himself.
Funny how they conveniently omitted Sheldon Souray. I guess he also wanted to stay in Edmonton as opposed to being buried in the minors.
I’m sure he never asked for a trade. I’m sure Lucic never asked for a trade either, being that his contract is untradable. Of course and Heatley never asked for a trade either, he preempted it by blocking a move to Edmonton.

It sure seems like it
Much like you see in the White House, I think what we're seeing is a shameless final swing at having a career. No one wants the job, and I can't believe that anyone in either camp (White House or Edmonton media) is buying what they themselves are selling.
I think it's a mix of manipulated losers who are buying... and shills who are willing to sell.

Why WOULDN'T a player want to play in Edmonton? You have a nice short season that is usually over by American Thanksgiving. After that you have enough time to pad your stats in meaningless games which leads to gross overpayment by the incompetent management. The fans elevate you to demi-god status and you are untouchable, regardless of how badly you play. You can go out and party your brains out, and never have any accountability for how it affects your play on the ice. Most importantly, and we come full circle, golf season opens up the second week of April every year, making you a two sport threat!

They definitely have a problem with the left/right audio... It's disorienting...

It really is a beautiful work of art. It reminds me of a joke I use frequently.
Two young fish swim by an old fish, the old fish says, “How’s the water today boys.” The two young fish swim on then one looks at the other and says “What’s water?” The fans, team, & media don’t even recognize what they’re swimming in. “Something in the water?”
It is the water.
The media have no journalistic integrity, out of both fandom & fear of losing access to the team to generate content. The team will fight any critical assessment with lunacy, Lowe’s 2013 rant of winning as an example. The fans continue to buy tickets and license plates with blind support.
These all enable, support, refine, & backfeed each other to create the current situation.
It’s not surprising those two dolts laugh at & blame Toronto, it’s typical deflect & distract behaviour. Nothing to see here folks.
However, Shanahan has made Toronto a safe place to play. Sheltering players and their families, while using the media as an advantage. This is why Sam Gagner is playing for the Marlies. The Leafs realized that for fringe NHLers playing on the Leafs or Marlies even with marginal success is like being advertised to the hockey world at an elevated level. Tyler Ennis is another example. Every nickel counts in the cap era. If you can find even an $800,000 player & pay him $500,000 it all adds up.
These two Edmorons don’t even realize that Edmonton, with its unbridled ‘love you until we hate you’ attitude of fans, media, and management is a LONG WAYS AWAY from being a safe place to play for a player.
This is a big step from a proper diagnosis, let alone treatment.
It’s beautiful how they carry on and their results are entirely earned.

It's not only players that wanted out of Edmonton but players or players wives that didn't want to go to Edmonton as Michael Nylander signed a contract with them only to back out because his wife wanted no part of Edmonton. You then have the time the Oilers and Senators agreed on a trade for Danny Heatley only for him to refuse to waive his NTC for Edmonton.

Those types of videos are always good news and should be taken for face value. No one ever thinks anything else than what they say in an organization mandated video.

Oilers have to put out propaganda to get the sucker-tier 1 fans to renew their season tickets. Everything is a ok in Oilers land. Just goes to show that making sure the tier 1 fans continue paying while keeping the Old Boys Club intact is much more important than bringing in a winning culture that's not from 30 years ago.
Eventually though, the truth will inevitably come out or there will be a slip up during a post game interview, and there will be no turning back. I don't think he will stay long term but he's been quite careful in trying to avoid to look disgruntled and could stick around at least a year.

Apparently Yak asked for a trade. Freidman said Kassian did too but it was denied by Kassian so who knows.

This is false. Sam Gagner is playing for the Marlies because he was loaned to them by the Vancouver Canucks, who are paying his contract for another year beyond this one.

In what Universe does a knuckle-dragger like Kassian command enough clout to demand a trade?
He cant even skate on 30 other rosters, if it werent for Edmonton he'd be plying his trade somewhere in Siberia.

Think the amount of trade requests is much higher than we fans tend to find out about. Not just for the Oilers but any team.

Man Edmonton's inferiority complex is really rearing its collective head this week with their dealing with Toronto's 5th estate.
