Quite frankly, there isn't an easy answer.

I don't downplay the experience of poor white people either. However, it's not a contest about who has it worse. Being poor is awful, but so is being a discriminated against minority. The added affect of both is worse than any single disadvantage.

It's one thing to say that there isn't an easy way to solve an insanely complex socio-economic problem. It's an entirely different thing to do what you've done and state that there are no barriers that affect black people. And no it's not worthless to acknowledge systematic racism. In fact, it has to be done to make any progress on the issue.

I do agree though, that many programs to help black people, merely hurt poor white people. The reason being that rich people, with social connections, aren't affected to the same degree as poor people. Many good intentions, lead to a system of divide and conquer. Where poor people of different races are pitted against each other, while those who have enough social status and wealth to elevate themselves beyond the conflict prosper. Rich visible minorities are also more able to take advantage of programs designed to help people based on race alone. This does nothing to help poor communities.

What's the easy answer...there is none. You're attitude is only making things worse though. I hope some of this post helps you see that you can discuss the issue, without resorting to ignorant blanket statements.

This incident featured three groups:

1- A large group of teenagers- were likely sent to an anti-abortion rally by their school/parents. These kids put on MAGA hats, some for good old-fashioned negative attention, others because they are "True Believers" and others to go along with the group. They ended up behaving like a mob of hormonal boys do: like idiots.

2- The Black Israelis- A small, fringe, extremist hate group that was present to stir up crap and get some attention.

3- The indigenous group- Not sure why they were present to begin with. The only reason they got involved, they claim, was to settle down the first two groups. Why that Elder wandered into the center of the mob and went face-to-face with that kid is beyond me. He said he was trying to make things better but instead made it worse. We've seen things like this end in violence so it's fortunate that everyone remained relatively calm.

So, let's not make this out to be something it's not or blow it out of proportion. It only hurts the fight against racism and bigotry.

FFS. Do you even read the news. The group of indigenous protesters were the only group who actually had a permit to protest at that site but you question why they were present? Come on.
