Brodie and Backlund made that OT goal look so easy.

Love seeing the depth of this team win games, especially at times during the year where you would expect a lull in play. Backlund has been so good recently

In the Flames' last 32 games they've only lost in regulation 5 times.
In their first 19 games of the season they lost in regulation 8 times.
They've been lights out since mid November with a record since then of 23-5-4.
Crazy good. I think if they hadn't given Smith so many starts at the beginning of the season they would be first in the NHL right now.

Man this team just seems destined to do something great this year. I’ve always wondered what it was like to cheer for a team at the top of the standings, and I gotta say, it’s pretty great.

Brutal game.
Monahan's play lately suggests he needs this rest.

Flames played like they were already on the break the first two periods, but turned it up in the 3rd period. The Gio and Neal chances stick out, but I don't remember any really good chances by the Hurricanes.
I thought Dougie played well and hopefully Ferland isn't out for long.
33-13-5.... crazy record!

Mikael Backlund is still underrated. Not underpaid, but he is not appreciated as much as he should be. What a play at speed to move to his forehand.
His passion is infectious.

Can the mods please give us some extra "Thanks"?
Between the GT and PGT and all the E =NG stuff going on, it's hard for a girl on a budget to keep up!

I genuinely wish I had just 5% of the love and enthusiasm David Rittich has for his job.
Not to mention competence.

Holy crap!
I’ve just noticed that we’re 11 points ahead of this season’s Stanley Cup champions!

Flames really struggled for the first two periods with Carolina's speed and forecheck. There were so many times that the Flames were hemmed in their own zone because they could get the puck out. It was actually really frustrating to watch. I was really impressed with Slavin. Big guy who can skate and with soft hands as well.
It was a really strange game though as Calgary had some excellent chances on limited opportunities. Take the two points but Carolina was the better team last night.

Canes are a really interesting study. They sure generate a whole lot of quantity but not very much quality. Flames probably had 8 of the 10 most dangerous chances in the game and if not for some spectacular saves, it could have been 5-1 or 6-1 late in that game. Thats corsi cup hockey at its finest.
