Ferland likely worth a 1st round pick, Neal likely negative value.
So, I would say no.

Also, as per the thread sureLoss posted recently, there's also Tkachuk's bonuses to keep in mind. If the Flames go right to the cap this season, they'll have to deal with the bonus rollover next season.
Of course, in the grand scheme of things, you probably take a $850,000 rollover if it allows you to acquire an extra $3+ million at the deadline. $850,000 in dead money is less than what the Flames are paying in dead money for the Bouma and Murphy buyouts this season (which are off the books next season).

Really, it’s most likely to get traded, so this guy gains credibility in social media and can come back and pat himself on the back in a future column.

I would love these 2 deals.
To CGY: Brassard and Olesiak
To Pitt: Ryan and Czarnik
To NYI: Frolik, Smith, 3rd
To CGY: Eberle and Lehner
Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Eberle
Bennett-Brassard-Neal
Hathaway-Jankowski-Mangiapane/Lazar
Dube
Gio-Brodie
Hanifin-Hamomic
Olesiak-Andersson
Kylington-Stone
Valimaki-Prout
Rittich
Lehner

It is very unlikely that we are going to trade a player that was just signed this year. That rarely ever happens.

Why are we trading Ryan? He's been pretty good for us in the bottom 6.

There's no reason to think the Islanders will be sellers at the deadline. They're currently 1 point out of first in their Division and have been one of the hottest teams in the league recently.

And I don’t think even if they weren’t they are giving up Eberle and Lehner for a 3rd and 2 salary dumps haha

The advanced stats show otherwise.
Also with his lack of size he is the exact type of player who will likely disappear in the playoffs. Good enough to win draws and skate straightt to the bench though

Don't know if just saying ".. advanced stats!" is an argument.

@The Boy Wonder -- I know you're probably looking at Ryan's relative Corsi figure, which is unremarkable at first glance. But, in his case, that particular stat is skewed, and it's important to know some full context.
The Flames don't tend to take a ton of shots when Ryan is on the ice, owing to his propensity as a defensively-oriented and -relied-upon forward. However, it's important to note that the Flames have only allowed 385 shot attempts against with Ryan on the ice, an astoundingly good figure which ranks in the league's 93rd percentile.
Ryan's CF% is sunk by the fact that he simply doesn't shoot a lot. He's not very offensive-minded, and neither are his linemates. But man, he can defend.

There will be moments where I'm like "Yes! Good stick Ryan!" when he skates the puck out of danger from the d zone.
Then he ices the puck. Or his dump in/pass gets intercepted. And I end up cursing him again.

^ That was me (a lot!) during the first 25-ish games. He really struggled to do anything with the puck at all.
I've noticed he looks significantly more assured with the puck recently. He's making a number of great-looking rushes down the ice and seems to be carrying the puck with authority. I haven't noticed him ice the puck in ten games, at least. He's quickly become my most trusted member of the bottom-six, personally.

I definitely want Ryan on the ice when the Flames are protecting a 1 goal lead in the last minute. He's a rock defensively.

The thing I like the most is the faceoffs. Whenever there is a crucial D Zone faceoff, I like him there

Anyone tossing Neal into trade proposals first needs to take a step back, substitute in Lucic for Neal, and see if they think the other team would still want to do the trade. Dude has negative value at this point, we'd have to throw in a high round pick or retain half his salary to get rid of him.

I assume the Islanders motivation to do this deal is to take on more cap and get worse at the same time?
Unless you truly believe that the Islanders are spending all of their time dreaming up ways to help Calgary, this proposal is a big “probably not”.

Rumour has it Eberle and his wife are not happy in long Island. I expect him to be moved at the deadline possibily back in Western Canada.
