Ok.... A man's job is on the line here, you can't sit out McDavid because he is responsible for over 53% of the Oilers' goals - who is going to make up that difference? They won't win without him in their line-up, it's almost a certainty at this point. Seriously though, guy looks worn out. They're just running him into ground. What a joke of a franchise. They were gifted such a talented player, and all they're going to do is ruin him by overplaying him, submitting him to their toxic culture, and give him no hope at all.

Guess part of this is on McDavid for signing that 8 year contract. Could have just did 4 and looked forward to a big payday and a good team to go to in 3 more years.

Under Todd McLellan Connor McDavid was playing an average of 22:13 TOI/GP which breaks down into 17:43 EV ice-time, and a whopping 4:03 per game on the powerplay. McDavid does not kill penalties.

Since Hitchock took over McDavid is now playing 23:24 TOI/GP—more than a FULL MINUTE of added ice time per game. But more tellingly, McDavid's powerplay time is down nearly a minute to 3:13 PP/GP, and his EV minutes are up to 19:56 per game. That's more than a 2:00 increase of even-strength ice time per game.

In short, Hitchock has McDavid playing more minutes overall, but considerably more harder minutes than he played under McLellan.

I would be interested to see what percentage of NTC/NMC in the history of the cap have included Edmonton.

It wouldn't surprise me to have it over 95% and maybe even 100%.
