Eberle is as soft as a baby's bottom. Do not want.

We should be able to get something useful from Ottawa for our first + prospects.
Colorado must be laughing their heads off.

This is the second straight year that Frolik has been underwhelming. I don’t get why people think he can easily be moved for a pick. Maybe if the Flames add a higher pick?
Frolik and a 3rd for a 4th?
Islanders are going for the playoffs and Eberle and Frolik are in similar spots being high priced wingers that are struggling under their new coaches. I am hoping the Islanders would consider the deal because they are on the playoff bubble but they might balk.

if all your going to give me is a 3 or 4th round pick for Frolich, happy to keep him. not just about points, he plays a 200' game, strong on forecheck, does all the things that I think will help our playoffs come time. Deal with him in the off season but no reason to discard him now

Frolik should not be flipped unless a ready-now asset that can contribute is coming back. No middle-round picks, we're not looking to sell. Frolik is the kind of guy you want to go deep with in the playoffs, you need that depth for a long run - and that time is basically now to do it.

I was talking about the off-season. I wouldn’t be shocked if we have to buy him out. I can easily see the Flames losing a guy like Bennett to an offer sheet where the comp is a 2nd because we are going to be pushed up against the cap.
We are stuck with Neal but need to shed Frolik and Stone for sure and that is not an easy task

rumors/speculation from Friedman's 31 thoughts
https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/...n-calder-hart/
It is "when" not "if" the Canes trade Ferland as the two sides are far apart.
Pens and Oilers make sense, but other teams will too
Canes have told teams they want to wait before deciding on whether to move McElhinney or Mrazek but that can change if the offer is good enough
Hamilton could be dealt because the Canes are right shot heavy
Contender's need defencemen that can score, Carolina needs scoring forwards. There are matches out there
Pat Maroon is available
Tampa is trying to move Slater Koekoek (*could he be the Left shot d-man the Flames are reportedly looking for*)
The price for Muzzin is high
Teams will be watching how the Jets handle Brossoit who is 1 year away from UFA.
Teams also watching Brandon Tanev who is UFA this summer
Cheveldayoff is shooting down the teams that are asking about Jack Roslovic
Several team's scouts left the WJC early to watch college free agents Cnnor Mackay and Nico Sturm
There is interest in Del Zotto but those parties will wait until closer to the deadline to save cap space

No one is offer sheeting Sam Bennett IMO. Yeah, the compensation is low, but offer sheets are pretty much reserved for radical changes, like top line help. I don't know why that is, unless it's because of GM relationships. Is a GM willing to go Lowe/Burke feud in order to get a third line winger with some upside?

I’m against acquiring Slater Koekoek. I think TB is trying to sell high on him because he has a very high PDO this season (on ice save % of 95.5% at 5v5). His underlying shot metrics are all bad and they have been consistently bad over a number of seasons.

What a disaster of a trade for the Canes. Seems like they didn’t have a plan for the players they traded for

Looking at the hockey's future talent analysis seems like an offensive D that has seen success in the AHL but not in the NHL. Could be worth a gamble for the right price, maybe a high round draft pick.

I am not sure Koekkoek will be that expensive of an acquisition.
Cernak and Sergachev are above him in the depth chart and they are being rotated out of NHL games.
This is Tampa trying to move him before they waive him IMO. The guy has never lived up to his billing as a top 10 draft pick.

If we get him, and he scores, they need to play a Rosco P. Coltrane soundbite

It's been almost 6 years since the last offer sheet (Ryan O'Reilly, lol) and only one hasn't been matched since the new rules (Dustin Penner to Oilers).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...d_offer_sheets
It seems like NHL GMs have decided that offer sheets just aren't a good way to do business.
