I still want McDavid to retire an Oiler

After that piece on how great they're going to be, he became a part of the problem

What's the old line, when you're drowning, other NHL GM's throw you anchors.

If the Oilers were involved, it's probably in it's second or third re-build since that picture...

It will be awesome when they trade their first rounder for a winger 'with term'. May I suggest Brandon Dubinsky? 4g 6a, $5.85MM for two more years.
Dubinsky would tied for 6th in goal scoring and 8th for pts on the Oilers. 1 more point than Lucic - that would be $12MM for 2 players for 19 pts.

DO IT CHIA!!

I still can't believe they traded Hall for Larsson. Unbelievable.

One of my favorite turds from that article:

In the bigger picture, Edmonton is where Calgary was supposed to be by now, well on their way to being a top-10 National Hockey League team with an long and bright future.
That is inane, and quite frankly being intentionally dishonest. Spector wants us to think that Edmonton's rebuild (a single one?) is moving along faster than Calgary's? That not only have they become the better team, but achieved that far quicker than expectations?

What an idiot.

I think that either The Tenderness or German Gretzky gets moved by the new GM in the off-season. My guess is that it’s Draisaitl.

I don't have Twitter, but I'd love it if someone copied that story link to Spector's Twitter with the Pepridge Farm Remembers meme

I love that the Oilers are so close to a spot in the wild card. It just makes every loss that much more heart breaking.

I notice the 960 guys rarely ever have Spector on anymore. I wonder if the Oilers were winning if Spector would be much more eager to get on Calgary radio waves.

Friedman in his 31 thoughts says Edmonton could be a destination for Ferland. Maybe that is who they give up their 1st for.

So, since the day before they won the McDavid lottery they

Gave up: Hall, Eberle, Cagguila, 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 6th

Acquired: McDavid, Chiarelli, Larsson, Spooner, Manning, Petrovic, Reinhart

They even lose this "trade"

These are just the trades I can remember, I'm sure there are more, but it's not like they hit any home run trades that would make it look much better
I don’t think you could really include McDavid in this since he wasn’t really acquired in a trade

So from a trade perspective, really, it’s more like:

Hall, Eberle, 1st, 2nd, 2nd (Chia comp), 3rd, 6th Strome, Cagguila
For
Chia, Larsson, Reinhart, Spooner, Manning and Petrovic

Lol

I was thinking this might make sense for the Oil as well - the Oilers would love to have an ex-Flame doing well on their team. And he is exactly what they need - big, fast, and can score. He would look fantastic on McDavid's wing.

But how the hell do they fit him into their cap structure?

This year as a rental, sure. But I don't know how they can sign him.

Wait... if the Sharks has 1 goal but 0 shots and Oilers has 1 shot and 0 goals...

The Oilers scored on their own net with their only shot???

I'm also surprised the Sharks didn't have a shot on net that far into the first period. Was playing Edmonton that boring for them?

Huge win for Carolina. Plus, I don't see Ferland tipping the scales enough in Edmonton. And they can't re-sign him, especially when the reason he's being dealt is his salary ask.

ETA: By all means put him on McDavid's wing. There are only so many goals to be had, and the Oilers' problem isn't scoring from the McDavid line. How many more goals would Ferland get than Chiasson? Ferland would be much more useful to them on RNH's line IMO.

I half-watched the game. The sharks didn’t play very well, despite the score.

All they need to do is trade a couple crappy depth players for a couple elite level wingers. I think there is one team out there that's been known to do that.
