Chris Jones gets extended by the Riders, with an out clause should he be offered a job in the NFL or NCAA.

Hillbilly Jones fits in well with that fan base, even though most of their fans are envious he appears to have all his teeth.

The Als have signed Laval star QB Hugo Richard - Arm strength is questionable, but he's Mike Reilly tough. It will be interesting to see if he gets a chance to be the Montreal QB.

I respect his toughness, but Reilly while tough also has a pretty decent arm and he's accurate in the 7 though 9 zones.

Updates from Huff:
The Stamps had 41 potential free agents heading into the winter, and with the collective bargaining agreement with the CFLPA expiring, there are a lot of players who are waiting to see what happens before inking new deals.
That means with free agency set to open Feb. 12, there’s a lot of roster construction that still needs to be done.
The Stamps aren’t alone in that, though, it’s something that every CFL team is dealing with.
“I’ve always been a guy who is going to try to sign the guys in my locker-room,” Hufnagel said. “If they refuse to sign, then I will go somewhere else on free-agent day.
“Do I have some holes to fill? Yeah, but I’m hoping it’s not entirely through free agency. No. 1, I can’t afford it. I’m not a free-agency player because I can’t afford to do it. I try to build good football teams and I don’t believe free agency is the way to do it.”
Kamar Jorden may not be able to play next season. If he does, it seems that the Stamps want him in their uniform.
The knee injury he suffered in the Labour Day Classic is likely to keep him out until late-August, at least, but Jorden has committed publicly to trying to work his way back onto the CFL field.
The Stampeders have been monitoring his progress, and Hufnagel was unequivocal in his support for his fallen star receiver.
“I’m his biggest cheerleader,” Hufnagel said. “Kamar will be a Stampeder.”
Things are a little less clear with a couple other receivers.
Eric Rogers openly contemplated retirement after the season, and Hufnagel wanted to give him some time before discussing plans for next year.
“I haven’t had any discussions with Eric,” Hufnagel said. “I wanted to give him a little time so he can fully evaluate what he went through last season and just fully evaluate what he had to go through during the season just to get ready to play, ready to practise. I think you need some time to figure that out.”

We did a podcast with Huff a couple of seasons back where he talked in depth about his methods for signing guys, it was a great show.

Just a mini ATL quotes from the Eskimo fan bases. I know it's a month old but I couldn't help but wanting to post these few gems. A lot of their post grey cup conversations have been centred around how inept their Eskimo management was for allowing the Eskimos team to miss out on the post season.
Quote:
The Eskimos make the Oilers look like a stable, well run organization.
To think there was ever a day when both teams were the pinnacle of their respective leagues.... now they are both laughing stocks.
|
Quote:
Eskimo fan 1: Thats another sore spot with Maas for me. He has a starting QB in his 30's (soon to be an FA) and he doesnt have the foresight to even try and develop a young QB.
Eskimo fan 2: It's sad that Chia and TM weren't even the worst GM-coach combo in the city...
Eskimo fan 3: Chia and tmac especially chia are MAGNITUDES worse than anything the eskimos have ever had and that includes maciocia.
Eskimo fan 2: Pretty sure TM at least knows how to do math properly.

I know you've been waiting all year for it... it's finally here: the 2019 Mexican league draft!
https://www.cfl.ca/2019/01/13/lfa-at...teams-combine/
I have to admit, I had no idea this league even existed; it looks like they're basically an adult semi-pro league: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profes...ague_of_Mexico
I'm sure they'll have some good athletes down there, but I'd be shocked if anyone actually made a CFL roster. You'd think anyone who was serious about going to Canada would have attended one of the CFL tryout camps held in the US each year. Good for the league to try and expand their footprint though, I guess...

Our friends down south seem to be enjoying the CFL game...I mean, it's still not a big ratings haul, but it appears to be growing.
