“Sunderland til I die” is a great show on Netflix. It is very different from Manchester City all or nothing which is on prime, but I recommend both.
Sunderland’s show follows the team after they are relegated from the premier league.
I took sneaky pleasure imagining this for the e=ng thread.
I second this recommendation. Even if you're not a 'footie' fan, this is a great sports documentary series that shows the challenges of running a pro sports team and the effect of that team's results on the community.
Watched Bird Box tonight, and while it doesn't really accomplish everything it set out to do, it was a good, enjoyable film with a lot of actors I enjoy. As mentioned before, you have to re-calibrate your Deus Ex Machina sensors pretty early on, because if you don't you'll be chapped a fair bit.
It's The Happening but everything is done about 5 points better. Acting is about 10 points better.
Spoiler!
Unless you liked the hilariously dumb twist in The Happening, because Bird Box's biggest sin is that it doesn't ultimately explain everything. I'll hold firm that "it was the trees!" is worse than not knowing.
EDIT: Spoilered for those who haven't watched the nadir of M Night Shyalaman's career I guess.

Had it not been for the last 5 seconds, 'You' was the best thing I've seen all year.
Spoiler!
Soap opera/CW type ending, I hated it. Would have been an absolute brilliant (but messed up) classic if it ended with the door bells ringing, him describing the girl, the viewer not seeing her face, him saying "Hi" and cutting to credits.
Shouldn't be a show with a second season. A terrible shame.
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch dropped on Netflix today. Apparently a choose your own adventure style movie with over 6 hours worth of content. I'm pretty excited to check it out.
Exactly! Grumpy Bandersnatch doesnt ever play in the Honey River! He just wants to steal your happiness. You cant expect a guy like that to understand what you've been through!

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

Was a little disappointed in Bandersnatch... and also that the full season 5 apparently wont be released for a while. Still by far my favorite series to ever appear on netflix, and the only series I regularly watch out for news and updates.

I gave up on Banderdash. I really enjoyed the premise at first, but it got old real quick. Then I just wanted it to end. I love black mirror, and I applaud the “choose your own adventure” experiment, but at the end of the day I felt I just wasted hours on something I didn’t enjoy. I don’t recommend it.

Unpopular take: I thought Birdbox was terrible. It was disjointed, slow at times and generally just non-captivating. It tried too hard to be something cooler than it actually was. Sandra Bullock annoyed me from the start of the show. The only good thing about the movie was John Malkovich, whose character was just an untenable jerk.

I overall enjoyed it, liked the idea. However, the acting was just terrible. Seemed extremely B-horror movie like, maybe even worse with that old lady. Seemed odd to have an Oscar winner and Oscar nominee and then just terrible actors that really took me out of it.
The Sophie's Choice stuff was weird, I had to go back to see if I missed something but no, there's this build up of one of the kids having to navigate the wild rapids..and then they don't. Cool
And the crazy people who turned evil were still competent if not a 'bit' weird. Seemed like they should have tried to trick or hunt down the blind school before so that Sandra would have to pass a test or something.
Bird Box was ok...definitely an interesting premise, but just never felt super attached to the characters or their predicament...
the black mirror episode was pretty cool; i am glad they tried to do something different... it did seem overlong and they often reset the episode instead of asking you if you wanted to end it at that point you left it.
pretty interesting; we'll see if they can use that approach in a more immersive way next time

This was me as well. As soon as I had the choice to exit to credits I took it. It was an effort but I would've appreciated less choices and more of the story. To me it was too many choices which took me out of the movie.
I watched/played Banderdash for about 90 minutes last night, overall I thought the content/premise was good, some of the "no win" decisions it forces you to make is typical black mirror kinda stuff.
But having said that... I think there's a reasons interactive TV has never really caught on, we've had the technology going back to DVD's and it's not really gotten much traction. TV is a passive activity, we generally want to disconnect and watch a story unfold, not activity participate... that's what gaming is for.
I may give it another try and try some of the other paths, but I suspect this is a "one and done" type experiment for Netflix. I'm willing to give it a bit more time, but I'm sure as heck not gonna explore every pathway just to see every seen/ending possible... I'm just not that invested in the format.

This is a book spoiler for Bird Box
Spoiler!
Apparently the director did not want to show a very dark timeline, as written in the book. In the book, the school for the blind is infiltrated and many people die. This causes most/many people who survive to voluntarily blind themselves to protect themselves in the future.
