Every team tries to catch a break here or there, but this one was especially an exception. It was well after the icing call and we didn't even have the right players near the faceoff dot. They weren't even close to being ready, they weren't just waiting on Monahan. It was an easy call, if that wasn't called then they should just get rid of the rule at this point.
In a close game you could make the argument that it's especially important to manage the delay of game. If a team ices the puck at a critical time, it's all the more important that the puck drop be dropped efficiently so the team is at the intended disadvantage. If you allow the icing team to decide they want a 10 minute break, what's the point?
Are you done yet? Everyone here is quite aware if the advantage or disadvantage a team faces after an icing call.

If you are saying it's a call referees consistently make we will have to agree to disagree here.
Fact that it has been called two or three times this entire season suggests to me that it is a call rarely made. Thus not consistent.
Forgetting about the actual argument, consistently and rarity have nothing to do with each other. Just because something's rare doesn't mean it's inconsistent. What a strange assertion.
A ref could call a penalty 100% of the time a goalie plays the puck over center ice.
It might only happen once a decade, making it exceedingly rare, but it is called consistently.
I'm saying that it's rare for coaches to argue for 35+ seconds after an icing call about who's on the ice with the refs. Again, at least according to the ref, when he blew the whistle the Flames still didn't appear to have the right player on. He was sick of their bull####, which I wouldn't blame him for (if he was right, not sure who was).

Yes, like the disadvantage of being called for a delay of game if you won't get out the right players quick enough.

Ha, I looked this up because I thought the "real version" of this song might actually be good. Turns out this is the real version, and it's terrible. But also stupidly catchy and I keep listening to it. I hate you now.
