I can see him being shut out by Koskinen tonight.

But yes, if he does score, it will be big.

He's gotta start being pesky. One guy who can get greasy when he wants to. I think that'd be good for him. Especially since tonight could be a bit of a slimy affair.

When Neal had that partial break and was all alone last night I thought he was gonna bury one. No better time to score a couple than against the Oil though.

Thought he had one on the pass from behind the net by Jankowski, but Saros saved it. It was a good chance.

we’ve sent players down to Stockton who were having more impact than Neal. Time to have a seat in the Press Box for a few games I think

Yeah my standard for “high level” is different from yours so it’s not false. It’s my opinion. So we’ll have to agree to disagree because the playmaker on that like Gaudreau and it’s not close. If Gaudreau was able to play up the middle as a center than we’d see Neal with a lot more goals than he has with how many shifts they’ve played together.

Yes, Neal needs a set up guy. But there is no law that it has to be a C, it could also be a winger.
Also, there is no law that you have to be a set up guy to be a #1 C. Monahan is without question a high level #1, even though he is a finisher, not a setup guy

He hasn't been good tonight. I hope he can get it together soon. If we make a cup run, we'll need him. If he's there at the end of the year, I'm fine with the signing. The signing looks awful right now though.

I think it's pretty clear that he needs far more than just a set up guy.

Gaudreau is behind the net looking, and Neal is just standing there staring at him. Neal doesn't even fight to get find an open spot or at least make little movements to get his stick free and a target.

Just lazy at the moment. Needs to get his head back in the game.

Neal's stick was open, not sure what Gaudreau was waiting for

I’ve been reluctant to call James Neal out this season. I hate that there always has to be a whipping boy but he completely deserves it. I haven’t seen him get into any dirty areas. He’s floating around, reaching with his stick and avoiding the puck. I think he should be benched for sure. Quine looks way better out there.

You've been patient. I think you've shown good patience. I think it's about time to start calling him out because it's pretty much at the point with Neal where enough is enough now, so no problem with you calling him out at all.

Lots of floaty mcfloaterson out there by Neal for sure. Does not seem %100 commited with his play. He's actually doing the insanely frustrating thing I hated Ferland for. Missing loose pucks, overskating pucks, half assing it to pucks. Floating into another players zone so he misses a pass because he's lolligagging and checking out the bunnies in the stand or whatever. Just honestly lost.
See, what actually happened this off season apparently, is we took the half assery out of Ferland and created a James Neal clone, the real James Neal is sipping Pina Coladas somewhere in the Dominican. And we took the neat stuff about Ferland and got us a Lindholm.
