Here's Torts' post game presser. Not nearly as entertaining as I had hoped. He basically just dismisses it as one of those weird games, and that they just need to move on.

i got the game's start time mixed up and got home to turn on the tv just after columbus made it 4-1.
my first thought was 'well that sucks! maybe the flames can get the next one and you never know?!?'
then BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! my little guy was going nuts every time the budweiser red light went off - it was AWESOME!
my daughter (who's 5) asked, "daddy... what's happening??"
i grinned from ear to ear and said to her, "flames hockey honey.... flames hockey!!"

Guys who rarely get points got no points!! no way

Neal actually made a great pass on one of the goals (so many I cant remember which) but was the fourth guy to touch it

I don't think putting Brodie back on the right side under GG would have been the magic button.

GG never had a magic button period.

Sure but it's not like he played poorly. He got some chances, his line was cold (Bennett 0 points and -2) but at least Neal had an even +/- and had 3 decent shots on net.

Lots to complain about but Neal isn't one. Not like he's dragging anyone down Brouwer style

Our depth scoring has been awesome so far this year, but just imagine how scary this team will be if Neal ever gets going. This is a guy that's scored 20 goals or more in 8 straight seasons. You have to think that once he finally pots a couple, the floodgates will open.

Lost in the hoopla of the sheer number of goals is that there were some incredible individual plays in this game - Johnny’s goals, especially the second where he was breaking defencemen’s ankles deking them was incredible. Czarnik’s goal was an absolute beauty, and Tkachuk’s through the legs no look to Hanifin in the slot was simply beautiful. Lots of offensive talent.

It will come for him.

Jankowski and Mangiapane both had really good nights I thought. Working hard in both zones, and it was good to see them getting rewarded with some extra ice time.

Neal was brutal. Good on Peters for doing everything he can to get him going, but man he was struggling tonight.

The hook came out fast on Rittich tonight, we’ve certainly seen Smith get a ton more leash in several games this year. 3rd goal was weak but I figured he’d get some time to sort things out like Smith has gotten. Then Smith really didn’t make any big saves either. Hopefully they both get sorted before next game.

Like Hrudey mentioned I think that had more to do with sending a message to the team than punishing Rittich

Impressive offensive display by the Flames, but boy do they need a goaltender. Team won't go far with that type of goaltending when the games ramp up at the end of the season and in the playoffs. It was fun to watch, but scary at the same time.

Torts just following Kekalainen's orders to destroy Bobrovsky's stats so he has less incentive to go to free agency.

Agreed. But I also thought Bobrovsky in free agency would be the answer so maybe don't listen to me

None of the goals on Rittich were great. If it was Smith posters would have yelled for his head. Smith had at least one good glove save and a couple deflection saves. But the team collapsed around him better.

For all we know Peters asked Rittich about it and didn't like what he heard.

This team is a contender from the blueline out. No doubt about it.

But colour me worried about the goaltending. We currently don’t have a real number 1. If that doesn’t change I think we are in trouble.

@WesGilbertson
Tonight's unsung hero for #Flames? Word is, after first period, John Monahan told the other dads: "We've got them right where we want them."
