You don't need an update, you're right up to date. They are just drawing things out right now, but the vote will be today.

I am not saying the number is right, but Mr. Tombe I also think took a pretty simple look at the number and made a snap judgement...

Does that number include economic spin-off from for example Money spent during the games by visitors? Does that include other private investment into the City such as new hotels being constructed? etc....

This is a very complex file and the Yes and No side both are spouting incorrect information.

^^I agree, if you watch the council meeting, it seems like a very reasonable discussion. Not so much in here.

I'm certainly glad we're holding politicians to the reasonable standard of being more mature than message board posters.

Some very good discussion and questions in the council session. I'm actually surprised.

BidCo says no delaying the plebiscite, which is strange since I imagine it would actually help them.

presumably the additional time would be used to firm up the accounting/funding numbers... which in turn gives people the opportunity to scrutinize the numbers...

would that help the bid more than racing along head long into a plebiscite where the math is foggy?

So according to Mary Moran, all the time and effort spent on the plebiscite has put Calgary at a competitive disadvantage. Disadvantage against who, I'm not sure, but it's pretty clear that BidCo isn't a fan on having to let Clagarians have their say.

At least she admitted we should have no faith in their current estimate.

Well I'm glad we've narrowed done possible locations of hosting an event that is actually pretty vital financially given it's Canada and curling to like a 15,000 square km range. Where exactly? Somewhere, maybe even my back yard...

And people still defend this bid? Why exactly?

She specifically said there are no plans for events in Edmonton. Perhaps they can have a 'Raise a banner for Calgary 2026" night.

This 10:1 return on investment ratio sounds like something Calgary Sports and Entertainment would cook up. Are we sure Ken King isn't on the BidCo?
