Clown show is back in session. Should be fun to see what kind of whoppers come out this afternoon.

Dumb because I disagree with the funding proposal and think it's a waste of money to continue with the plebiscite?

Cool...Cool.

Perhaps some of the people working with BidCo also helped London 2012 and have first hand experience working with insurers, to the point of asserting what's possible because of their connections and experience.

Just sayin'

What is realistic then? If it's not 10 to 1 is it 5 to 1? 2 to 1? As long as the return is positive, and there is some guarantee it would be positive, then I'm more likely to say yes.

That's the big caveat though as there are no guarantees. I want a better understanding of what legacy projects we get. Currently I don't see them...but perhaps they come after.

Anyone with knowledge of the Vancouver decision? Was the Canada Line and twinning of the Sea to Sky known when the bid was put together or was that a decision made much later? Or even closer to home if anyone knows if the Ctrain build in the 80s was known before the bid was completed? I kind of get the sense most infrastructure/legacy projects aren't known ahead of time and there is a bit of guesswork and faith made.

She didn't say 4.4 was just wages?

So with how divided council appears to be, the nightmare scenario is looking very possible: The majority of council cancels the bid, but with only 8 or 9 votes, keeping the bid alive. Which given the debacle the process has been, would be the most fitting way for this to go.

My favourite part of this is how tone deaf politicians are. They're literally throwing their credibility by fudging the bid numbers in such an obvious way. Why are they doing this? So we can have a peblicite.

And then the peblicite is going to be a landslide "no" vote.

And in the end...it's going to be
1) huge loss of credibility
2) no Olympics

I'm appauled at how bad at strategy these politicians are. if you can't win the peblicite vote, don't ruin your credibility to ensure there is a peblicite. That's so stupid. Not only do you ruin your own reputation, but you make the voters more disenfranchised with the system by trying to game it such an obvious way.

Everyone involved in this bid should feel like gutter trash scum.

The Canada Line and Sea to Sky highway were both not part of the Vancouver bid... They were on long term infrastructure plans that the government decided to move up in priority after they won the bid.

I honestly feel that instead of making the decision themselves, they think they can save face by holding a plebiscite and say they are doing what the public wants. As if at this point anyone has trust in them anyways.

Sea to Sky was part of the original bid, I believe according to the 2003 BC Auditor report:

They're going to pour a ton more good money after bad by spending for an emotional appeal for the upcoming vote.

Naw, the nightmare scenario is that enough people are stupid enough to fall for it and the vote goes through. Then we all eat debt #### cake for a couple of decades.

How many times have they said there should be more info soon to clarify something? Stop trying to push this through already.

Anyone care to update a casual follower of this bid process as to what is going on?

Council is voting on whether to go ahead with the plebiscite?

thanks!

But think of their "Legacy"!! And that 10:1 return on investment (or is it 11:1?)

####, I don't know about you but I need to pull out my RRSP's, TFSA's and max all my credit cards if I can really get that kind of return. Hell, every single city in the world is kicking down the door to get that return . . . wait, they're not?

Of all the dumb things the "no" side has said...Am I doing this right?
