Played the most games in the league including a stretch of 5 in 8 days. Have had a heavy road schedule - 8 road games vs. 5 at home. Already had two east coast road trips. Haven't played a team in the 2nd half of a back to back yet. Have played 4 teams that had 3 days rest before their game with Calgary. Only had one break of 2+ days. Oh yeah and went to China for the pre-season trip as well.

I think a huge factor is that they have only ever played 2 games at home at a time, which means almost constant travel - at least one flight per week, usually, two. Hotels, interrupted practice and sleeps schedules, coaching is for games only and not long term stuff, etc. Not to mention half of their home games have been "first game after a road trip" (if that's really a thing).

Actually, looking into the numbers further, they've already blown last season out of the water.
Last season they scored 4 goals with the goalie out, but 2 were on delayed penalties. The other 2 didn't even force overtime as they were both scored when the Flames trailed by more than one goal.
This season, they've scored 3 goals with the goalie pulled and all three tied the game and forced OT. Because they've won two of those games in OT, it has meant an extra 5 points in the standings. That's the difference between being tied with San Jose for first in the Division and being second-last in the Division.

Yup they have went:
1 game on the road
1 game at home
3 on the road
2 at home
2 on the road
2 at home
2 on the road
So yeah just a ton of travel and limited practice time for a team in the first 13 games of the season.

The schedule doesn't get any better either.
In the first three months of the season, they only have one home stand longer than 2 games and three 3-game road trips. Otherwise, all the trips are 1 or 2 games long.

Looks like Trevor Hanson was one of the referees in both games. I couldn't tell you who made which calls though...

I think they've had 12 flights in October, assuming they didn't take a bus to any of their road games after they got to the first stop, which would be even worse.

It is awesome. But also super weird.
His body language is pretty relaxed, but then that is combined with his prototypical gaping, open-mouthed smile that is large enough into which one could drive a bus.
There is just so much contrast and awkwardness in a single moment.

I think they said on the broadcast last night that the team bussed it to Buffalo.

It would not make any sense to fly to Buffalo from Toronto

I still like Neal's grin even before the goal. A vet goalscorer recognizing what was about to happen.

November is looking a bit better travel-wise. They play 8 home games and 5 on the road, with a 4 game home stand from the 15th - 21st.

It's just a shame I will have to hate you in the Calgary Buffalo cup final this year

A Buffalo/Calgary final would be both the best and the worst. I have to pull for Buffalo, but I'd also be sad for Calgary to lose (I do cheer hard for them against 29 other teams in the league, after all). If we ever win the cup I want it to be against someone it feels really good to beat (and we were one period away from getting there in 2006...)

Is this true? Does anyone have a link? I don’t want to ridicule someone before I see this first hand.
