Toronto would have Brodie for these next two years of playoff hockey, plus they may also re-sign him, maybe TJ could sign his retirement contract with the Leafs too, close to home to boot! (Chatham, Ontario)

Gaudreau isn't the issue on this team.

Side car Monahan. Is that better or worse than 2nd line RW Monahan? Some of y’all have lost your damn minds.

Mike Smith still allow 4 goals per game. Say goodbye to another high first round.

Why does Toronto make a trade where they give up the two best players?

Unless they are simply sitting around dreaming up ideas on how to help the Flames.

Lol I wasn’t being serious; if we do that trade we have maybe a couple hundred K in cap space for the rest of the season and only have maybe 8-10 mill left at the off season to sign Tkachuk, Bennett and a Goalie...
People take this thread waaaaaaaay to seriously sometimes |

Yes, I am sure Toronto is dying to add a lesser version of Jake Gardiner to their lineup.

Gaudreau for Tarasenko is not only a bad deal on the ice, it doesn’t make sense financially.

You can’t honestly believe that collection of garbage gets you the 2 best players in that trade... come on now. The only player that has even a little value to the leafs would be Brodie, and even him is not worth Kadri let alone Nylander. Spicing it up with an overpaid Ryan, proved nothing Janko, can’t even make the team Foo, and a 1st... That phone call is hung up within seconds

Again .. it wasn’t a serious proposal and it doesn’t work cap wise for Calgary on top of that.. I like doing lopsided trade proposals with the leafs because of our sad history trading with them and it was fun to play with those lines but man I’m gonna just stop because seeing replies like this just become tiresome.

Definitely can make a franchise feel like they are lost in the woods.

Unless you meant in comparison to Johnny. Tarasenkos 3 career fights and 0.6 hits per game aren’t really the stats I would care about for a player like him and Johnny.
 |
Compared to Johnny which was who were talking about trading him for. Tarasenko is also 225 hes alot bigger than Johnny. Tarasenko is a career plus player and Johnny is not. Point is he plays a more rounded game not to.mention hes scored the 10th most goals of any player in the last 3 years.

Wht bout something like around gaudreau to philly? They have a lot of good young guys like konecny and maybe even Carter Hart could be available and there's always Simmonds or Nolan Patrick ...

A lot of focus on trading Gaudreau. Hes not a perfect or complete 200 ft player but he is on a good contract and when hes on is electric.
Im in no way saying that Monahan is not a 1st line centre. He is, he just doesnt carry the play like a superstar and if anything that is where we need an upgrade to win a SC. The flames will always be in a spot where they need a complete game top to bottom (Forwards, D, Goaltendjng) much like the Predators if they want to make some noise. We dont have a Crosby so we need wordly goaltending, solid 200ft game and scoring throughput the lineup.

So while Trading gaudreau might be a shakeup it doesnt fix the defense or goaltending. It probably doesnt get you any more scoring up front ether.

Aside from trading the whole team or tanking and getting a top 2 pick. This is the core.

But who knows, if they continue to lose and Tre feels the heat anything could happen.

Hope it doesnt come to that.
