Flip it around. Forget the wizard.

Looking at what happens to otherwise competent or even somewhat successful goalies here, what masochist risks his livelihood and says, yeah, I’ll play net for the Flames?

Definitely agree. Calgary has become the Philadelphia of the Western Conference.

The curse of Kipper is real.

Both St.Louis and Calgary are struggling a bit to start the season.
 To Calgary:
 Vladimir Tarasenko
 Jake Allen

 To St. Louis:
 John Gaudreau
 David Rittich

Just a random thought... but maybe this is the type of move you make to really shake up the core if both teams continue to struggle. Two dynamic players and two goalies who can potentially use a change/opportunity.

Gaudreau is a lot better than Tarasenko, is two years younger, and has a much better contract.

Thats great. And where has that gotten the team thus far? Especially if they continue to struggle.

I like Gaudreau but I think you are really underrating Tarasenko here.

Tarasenko hits, fights and scores more goals. If we want more grit on the first line I would consider it thinking about overall team make-up.

TJ Brodie for Nazem Kadri almost makes too much sense.

Fights? Hits? What Tarasenko have you been watching?

Unless you meant in comparison to Johnny. Tarasenkos 3 career fights and 0.6 hits per game aren’t really the stats I would care about for a player like him and Johnny.

There are many who would argue this point.

Gaudreau is a very small player who can often be contained, especially during playoff times. Perhaps.

You are right about the contract, but Tarasenko plays a more complete game.

At the end of the day, neither team needs to make this trade, as its a senseless panic move designed to get everyone fired.

Leafs desperately need D Men who can play the right side.

Kadri also has a M-NTC (10 team no trade list)

Leafs would be asking for Monahan for Kadri. It’s not fair value, but why would they move him for a 2020 UFA?

Doesn't Brodie normally play the right side?

Or did you mean right handed D Men?

Yes, Brodie is more comfortable on the right side.

I would do a deal with St Louis around Gaudreau for Tarasenko.
