What can I say... I grew up in Nanaimo. That should explain it.
Got you right there. There are no young people in Nanaimo.

We went to Calgary’s two cannabis stores the moment they opened. Here’s what we saw
...At Nova Cannabis, about a five-minute drive away in the city’s south end, interested customers filed out the door, down to the edge of the strip mall, and across roughly 100 metres of sidewalk. Heavy ambient music thudded out of loudspeakers set up by store staff. Like Four20, there had been a few diehards who’d waited for hours. In Ned Flanders’ case, he’d been there for nearly a day.
“At 12:45 (on Tuesday afternoon) I got here,” he said. Flanders said he didn’t know exactly when the doors opened, so he made sure to arrive early and dress warm in a thick jumpsuit...
How many people do you know who buy black market cigarettes? Or booze?
It costs what it costs, and what you're paying for is the safety and security of buying a regulated product from a store.
If it's 8, 9, 10 bucks a gram, whatever. Buy 10g, that'll do most people for months.
I've had a medical card for over a year, so the novelty of 'legal' weed has sorta worn off for me - now that it's legal across the board, it feels like one more thing you can enjoy but shouldn't do too much of.
I've been buying illegal cigarettes for years, ever since they banned menthol in Alberta. It's pretty painless, buy online delivered couple weeks later to my house, average price is half what a carton used to cost me. Only issue is on the supply side they go thru times of my brand being out of stock for weeks. But if I plan ahead and stock up is all good.
I've also been ordering from MOM for about 2 years now, which I will keep doing until they are shut down. I may re-evaluate once they allow edibles to be sold here

Drove past there 2.5 hours ago and the line was wrapped around the block. What a joke only 2 stores open today
I don't see the outcry that this won't ramp up to 100 immediately. Its been illegal for 100 years. An evaluation after 1 year should be done before complaining. These things take time.

It amazes me how nitpicky some people are. It's a brand new industry only hours old.
I am guessing the people complaining are the instant gratification millennial generation. Do you really need to get high that badly on a Wednesday?
