Bad special teams = bad result, it’s not rocket science.
Good thing is that Peters has 14 minutes of PP film to dissect and two full days of practice between now and the home opener...
PS. We suck again? Looks a lot like the sucky team that fizzled out of the playoff chase last year...

If I were Bennett, I would be looking to the KHL as a top line / PP forward, in fact I would go to Avangard Omsk where Bob Hartley is currently coaching as that's a coach who really knew how to build up a skilled player(remember when he actually sat Monahan down and told him he didn't want Monahan to be a checker? Meanwhile our last two coaches courtesy of Tre want everyone down to Gaudreau to be winning 1-0 checking games). Bennett could really establish his own game as a skilled and complete player and not be playing a grinder role trying to prove himself in a perpetual cycle of sucky linemates, crappy usage, overcoached systems, and misguided philosophies. Bennett can't develop in the NHL and as Peters has shown, there's no clean slate just because you get a new coach or a new team. Even if he gets traded, he'll still be stuck in this limbo situation. I think the only current NHL coach who might actually be able to work with Bennett is Bruce Boudreau.

Paul Byron would beg to differ about being typecast.
Bennett could get a top six role on 4 other Canadian teams in the nhl.
Would love Bennett + smith for carry price

The scary thing is we may never win again. 50% chance. We either will or we won’t. But we might not.

I don't know what is more ridiculous. After one game out of 82 saying it is over and the results will be the same or the oilers and their preseason banners.
One game. Vancouver worked their ares off and played a good game. Bottom line the longer you let a team like that stick around the more confidence they get. Lots to work on going forward, but I hope the sky doesn't fall every loss.

Exactly, Smith has to be better. We play a different game if he keeps it close but instead we were forced to play wide open.

Yeah its only one game, but it was a very familiar script. Best team the Flames have iced in a decade, against a barely NHL ready club, and they still looked stifled. I'm just looking for signs that this team might have more swagger than the last couple seasons.

Who cares? Boston was 42-19 in the FO circle against Washington, how'd that game go? Meaningless if you just give the puck away over and over.
