Looked pretty frigin good getting top6 minutes in his draft+1 and +2 years.

Funny how he fell off as soon as he was relegated to bottom 6 time since.

Also I want redemption on Saturday. And they better get at least 2 PP goals.
This. And the bruins got stomped. It is early. No need to panic. But the preseason narrative of questions on net and on the blue line still has legs.

This team will only go as far as Gaudreau and Monahan take them, and they failed to show up for most of the night. The offense runs almost entirely through them and they just weren't good enough.

Everyone else played about as well as you can expect them to play, apart from Stone who had a rough night. Gaudreau doesn't have a letter on his jersey but when he is flying out there it raises the level of the whole team. The effort and execution was not there for those two tonight.

When Sportsnet gets onto one of them "stories in the game" they sure like to milk it to the point of painful.

Sedins aren't here.
Pettersson's parents.
Etc.

Will never understand why NHL coaches keep going back to a dry well. If you're PP isn't clicking, change it up. Going 0/7 is just stupid.

Don’t know what to tell you. He doesn’t play top 6 minutes because he isnt good enough. What do you know that every coach who spends every day with the guy doesn’t?

Massive bust out of the 4 hole. Is what it is.

It doesn't work that way. Once you've been typecast, you've been typecast. He can't rebuild his game in this league.

If I were Bennett, I would be looking to the KHL as a top line / PP forward, in fact I would go to Avangard Omsk where Bob Hartley is currently coaching as that's a coach who really knew how to build up a skilled player(remember when he actually sat Monahan down and told him he didn't want Monahan to be a checker? Meanwhile our last two coaches courtesy of Tre want everyone down to Gaudreau to be winning 1-0 checking games). Bennett could really establish his own game as a skilled and complete player and not be playing a grinder role trying to prove himself in a perpetual cycle of sucky linemates, crappy usage, overcoached systems, and misguided philosophies. Bennett can't develop in the NHL and as Peters has shown, there's no clean slate just because you get a new coach or a new team. Even if he gets traded, he'll still be stuck in this limbo situation. I think the only current NHL coach who might actually be able to work with Bennett is Bruce Boudreau.

I’m not gonna opine about Bennett anymore, not worth the time on this forum of people who think he’s worse than yakupov at this point.

Lindholm just hasn’t looked like anything special so far, preseason or game 1

Still just 1 game but not encouraging to see the same crap effort and results

My bad, just that plus minus is the worst indicator. Go look at Karlssons plus minus as an easy example.

Lindholm wasn’t terrible, him, like the majority of the team tonight was just okay, but no where near terrible.

I don’t think anyone has compared Bennett to Yakupov. He has always had opportunities in the past. He’s still got NHL speed and maybe he just needs to be sheltered a bit to develop. Backlund took over 5 seasons to develop. No need to keep throwing him in the top 6 and mess with his confidence and no need to assume Peters has some crazy vendetta and is constantly giving him 9 min a game on the bottom line when it’s been one game.

Let’s give Bill at least a few games to assess the team and get rid of old habits. Can’t judge the team based on one game.

It's really, really bad. I don't think they're aware at all.

Tbh this loss would be a lot more bearable if not for those stupid narratives dominating the broadcast. I had to hit mute for the third which alleviated the stress almost entirely.

This is probably what the Nuckers were all up in arms about with the Bennett storyline.

Bennett and Janko should be absolutely dominating other teams 4th lines and 3rd pairings

Hope he asks for a trade. Classic example of the flames franchise's inability to develop a high end prospect.
I’ve heard this same excuse about every other bust that didn’t work out with the Flames and every other team. For every superstar that we didn’t give a chance, there are 50 guys who just couldn’t cut it.

That’s not to say he is a bust yet, only that if he was good enough right now to play top line minutes, he’d be playing top line minutes.

Me too. God, just think that we have to endure this for the rest of the season.

Perhaps Bennett and Jankowski just aren't a good fit to be a pairing. One of the strangest carry-overs from GG. At least 3M is proven.

Highlights of the 2 Flames goals from Galaxy91122:

Matthew Tkachuk (1) Wrist Shot, assists: Austin Czarnik (1), Noah Hanifin (1)

Watch Hanifin on this goal, the rush and headfake up the ice, the pass to Tkachuk, and crashing the net really creates the entire goal. Hanifin is going to be a STUD.

Sean Monahan (1) Wrist Shot, assists: Johnny Gaudreau (1), James Neal (1)
