0/7 is actually kind of amazing.
Season openers make me sad.

Well that was utterly painful to watch. So many flashbacks to last season. I’m not supposed to stress out that bad, so early in the season!

If we lose to them on the second game home opener then we can start the panic mode

Mark Giordano appears to be slower. And he is 35.

I just wanted us to look different. We looked like the same old Flames. I could have written the script for that whole game after Dube got cranked, Hamimic got beat up and the Canucks scored first.

This team has no pride. Just got blown out by an AHL team.

Low IQ + low urgency = loss
I really worry about the IQ part of the equation. Coaching staff may be able to eventually instill *some* urgency, but hockey smarts?

Mark Giordano is the only playing that gives a damn at shooting the puck when he has the opportunity to do so.
You don't score goals when you don't shoot.

It would be pretty annoying if Elias Pettersson is this good out of the gate. Hopefully he comes back to Earth a bit.

Power play is the reason the Flames lost.
That being said, the NHL is a joke! They want fighting out of the game and yet there’s still that high hit garbage, and Gunbrandson gets two minutes? Not that it would have mattered....or maybe it would? Calgary banks one in off someone’s butt on the 5 minute major and it’s a different game. That happens, Hamonic doesn’t get beat up and the entire game changes.
If you’re going to eliminate fighting you need to be harder on hits like that. If not, give me 1980’s style hockey.

Okay, but was anyone actually expecting the Flames to even show up tonight? I'm just glad they scored lol

Yes, that's the most frustrating part - when they show flashes at the end and we're like why the hell didn't you try in the 55 minutes prior?

I like that they stopped using the back pass on the PP in the 3rd. They actually were able to gain the zone.

You won't win many games when your goaltender is sub par and the PP can't produce.

Only three guys who really had any jump offensively had less than 10 minutes of ice...
Dube janko and Bennett all looked better and more skilled than lindholm, Ryan and Czarnik
PP sucked
Bennett is just buried and for his sake should request a trade. If he can’t get more ice when everyone else is playing like trash then he is clearly done here

Honest question, can he even hit the net?...3 seasons in a row where every shot is "Wide by Giordano"
Maddening.
