Lost 9 season openers in a row.
0/7 on the power play.

I admire your optimism. The reality is that it could get a whole lot worse.

Dube-Jankowski-Bennett were noticeable whenever they were on the ice, which averaged just under 9 minutes. I know not being a part of the powerplay took a huge chunk out of their time.

Number one trait from last year Peters needs to beat out of the vets... only showing up for a part of the game. That’s still biggest issue with this team aside from the lack of a pp

Still too many passengers, but meh it’s one game and it’s the season opener so I expected it, but against a really young Canucks team... they should be ashamed and better come out hard Saturday.

It's amazing how you can put so many coats of new paint on this team but the same color always shines through. Never, ever ready to play the first game of the season.

Not the end of the world as we should be conditioned for this but a little disappointing that the new coach in game one repeated mistakes of the old coach like having Frolik on the 2nd line (he hasn't been good in this role for two seasons) and Brodie on the powerplay. I'm sure he will learn his lesson but it sucks to give up points like this.

In a sport filled with old school clichés...

"... When the pp is struggling, traffic to the front of the net and get shots thru from the point"

F the idiot they hired, i can get this figured out after 14 minutes of real life simulation time to work with.

Neal complimented Gaudreau and Monahan really well. Keep him with them. Lindholm is already a good player on his own, he can help another line.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Neal
Tkachuk - Backlund - Czarnik
Dube - Ryan - Lindholm
Bennett - Jankowski - Frolik

Would be my forward lineup next game.

Move on from game 1. We always start slow. We have them next game so let's capitalize on that one instead.

Can we get some goaltending please?

That 4th goal was abysmal by Smith.

Goes without saying that the PP was a complete joke.

10-0 Flames Saturday. Canucks very fortunate in last 15 minutes of the third and they knew it and so did any of their fans not booing icings and offsides. A lazy play by the whole line on the 4th goal and of course an 0 for 7 PP, though the last 2 or 3 were dangerous. Markstrom didn’t see many of his saves in the third.

Add in a Dube and Backlund chance in all alone in 1st and although it’s annoying, the drama here predictably, will be over the top as usual.

If they tried harder on the powerplay they would have won. This is not rocket science. Like hey dip####, if the guy isn't passing the puck to you, it's because you're covered. Get open, find a lane... do something.

7 Powerplays and they stood still as statues and the Canucks just stood in passing lanes. Brutal.

At least Smith was alright for the most part. 3/4 goals he had no chance on.

More effort in general required out the gates.
