The shame of it is that it isnt because they dont realize that hes a person, its that they just dont care.
Troy Brouwer's humanity and dignity dont contribute the Sun's bottom line and thats what they're going for.
Look, Brouwer and the Flames didnt work out. He wasnt a fit and he didnt play well and they're parting ways. Like sand through the hourglass so go the days of being in Professional sports.
But the fact remains that the Sun doesnt have to care, they just have to sell papers that are so poor I wouldnt even let my dog crap on them.
What I really am sad about is, as was indicated before the author of the article doesnt get to choose the headline or the front page, so it paints them in a poor light unfairly.
Brouwer is a big boy, he obviously saw this coming and hes getting paid millions for his trouble. It sucks to have your face in the paper like that and I empathize and wish it didnt happen, but I dont really know what to do about it.
They can print what they want. And they can make themselves look like clowns if they want to.

Guys.....they know they're a rag, stop giving them the publicity. Why do you think they did this in the first place?
They're not some disrespectful kids, they know what they're doing, they've been doing it for years.

I'm not sure the Herald is far superior anymore. They run many of the same stories as the Sun, word-for-word.

You have to read it to decide you don't like it...
I read it and then decided it was garbage.

If I do recall Troy was planning on retiring here post hockey. Who knows if thats still the case, but quite the treatment by the local newspaper.

News Update
Quote:
"With some of the changes we made, as our roster sits right now, both from a personnel perspective going forward and from a cap perspective, we just felt this was a move that made sense for us.
"You have to make hard decisions sometimes and this was one of those."
Never really gaining any discernible traction here, Brouwer, who signed on as a coveted UFA following a monster playoff on behalf of the St. Louis Blues, scored 25 goals and added 22 assists over 150 regular-season starts donning the Flaming C.
"I want to say first and foremost, Troy's a good man and he gave everything he had to the team while he was here,'' said Treliving. "So we thank him.
"I had a good talk with Troy.
"These are never fun things to go through. These decisions affect people, affect families, and you never want to lose sight of that.
"I don't think there's one particular reason these things happen. Sometimes the fit's not right. You do a lot of work to find that right fit but sometimes it just doesn't materialize.
"Ultimately, it didn't work. But Troy's a pro and we wish him the best.
"Just disappointing."

If I remember correctly he was building a house here when they signed him.

People are (correctly) roasting you for this. But, in all fairness, it is The Sun. Probably best to assume there's nothing worth reading in the entire thing.

I also disagree with the Sun’s headline, but I find it somewhat amusing that so many here are rushing to the defense of Brouwer when there has been so much vitriol posted about him on this very board.
He’s been the butt of the joke on here for a while with much worse things said about him then “get outta here”.

All part of the Postmedia cuts. Pay fewer writers, run their stories in multiple papers.
