Any good lawyer will say never cooperate with police. They pretend to be your friend and turn on you as soon as they get the information they need. I would stay completely quiet, not answer any questions, and cooperate only if ordered to.
Too many moronic people on this planet opening up the kitchen sink just to appear innocent. Shut your mouth, close the door and shut off social media.

Ya, the other women's claims is what I was missing ... wow.
I didn't think anyone was making it up, just that it might not have been whom they thought it was. I don't even fully understand what was being done... were there allegations that the Karlssons did something bad or something??? ... this is so bizarre.

sort of makes you wonder whether it was a case of EK trying to get some help for the entire situation...and Dorian not agreeing to it...and that getting back to the Hoffman's which amped up everything...

Honestly, at this point, Hoffman and his fiancee staying quiet would be a PR disaster IMO...
its not like the police are on a fishing expedition and are going to find unpaid taxes on the Hoffman's computer and arrest him for it... even Colangelo in Philly wasn't charged for a similar situation; he simply resigned and by doing so pretty much admitted culpability imo

I am sure that Hoffman isn't going to just break-up over this - he of course loves her, so of course he believes her and has given her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe that changes when/if they find undeniable proof of her actions, but until that day comes, one would assume Hoffman is going to stick by her and defend her.
It may very well be that his fiancée is indeed innocent and this has been a horrible misunderstanding that points the finger at Monika, but who knows? Maybe the Karlssons are 100% sure with their proof, and it is an open and shut case for them, and they will indeed be proven 100% right. I am personally not going to necessarily believe one side over the other right now as of course we aren't privy to any evidence. It sounds as if Monika has some 'issues' with so many wives chiming in, but that doesn't necessarily prove that she is guilty.
If a trade were to happen, I would assume that the GM thinking of acquiring Hoffman would probably ask to sit down with Hoffman and say: "We want you on our team, but your wife will not be allowed to join any function that the team has, nor can she attend games with the other wives." Something like that. Whether she is innocent or guilty at this point, there seems to be too many wives simply chiming-in with their dislike of her.
This will be an interesting (and very unfortunate for the Karlssons) soap opera to follow. Really sucks for them. If Monika is guilty, then I hope that this will provide an example to the rest of the online cyber bullying/stalking presence that this behavior has consequences, and that you aren't necessarily some anonymous person who is able to say and do things at will to purposefully hurt someone else.
We haven't found out how Monika is as a person - though the accusation is damning, and the other wives coming together and pointing the finger at Monika is also very damning. You can be sure that Hoffman loves his fiancée, but hopefully a buddy can point out Mike Ribeiro to him (IIRC, a good example). A person that you choose to spend the rest of your life with should be one that helps support you and inspire you to become better, rather than someone that will hurt you personally or professionally with their actions and thoughts.

It's ironic you mention the police finding something on a computer not relating to what they're looking for. I agree you'd take a PR hit but you don't hand over items like that for the exact example you give.
You're giving complete access to:
-Your internet browsing history
-Communications
-Social media
-Financial information
Wiping it all is extremely easy to recover even with a low level format of the partition.

How awful for the Karlssons. Whether or not it was Hoffman’s gf harassing them (which, it sounds like it is based on the court filing and the hockey wives), SOMEONE is harassing them and took it to the level of weaponizing the stillbirth of a baby. I can’t even imagine.
I wonder if she did the civil filing because all the harassment and stalking was online? The police can only intervene in cases where the stalking is physically threatening the person? (I don’t actually know, just spit-balling)

i have no doubt information is easy to recover by the authorities; that's why i am sure that they'll figure out who did it relatively easily if the offender wasn't extremely cautious in their actions.
i simply don't agree with the premise that all the information on their computer is subject to scrutiny; as far as i know, you could still have a very limited focus in terms of what you can or cannot investigate...
maybe someone with some legal expertise can chime in here, but presumably you'd still need some kind of search warrant that limits the investigative range of the computer forensics team...

spuzzum with a strange take
Issue is that Hoffman needs to prove his fiancée innocent or it drastically affects his life and career. Keeping mum and hiding his computer isn’t going to help him one bit. Seems like you are overlooking how this is going to affect his career and reputation if not proven baseless as fast as possible.

Not if your client is not guilty and wants to prove their innocence.

The judicial authorization police would be seeking would need to clearly specify what they were searching for and clearly spell out why what they were searching for would provide evidence of an offence. Just because a judicial authorization is granted doesn’t give unfettered access.

If police are investigating, wouldn't IG just hand over the IP info? It would be that simple, no?

Sorry who’s IG? Subscriber info (IP address) is great but the user would need to be identified, production orders for various social media outlets produced etc, there’s a lot of work that goes into these types of investigations. If multiple people have access to the same IP, identifying a specific user can be problematic.

Yeah I found that a little shocking how quick everyone was to assume guilt based off a picture of Monika that was likely chosen by the media to make her appear sinister.
Would the reaction have been the same had this picture ran with the story?

Can't wait to see what the NHL does in regards to this situation.
In the case of Wideman he had to turn his phone over and his texts became evidence against him.
I wonder what is on Hoffman's phone?

I don't really know if its the NHL's place to do anything. These women aren't employed by the league and it probably isn't the first time girlfriends of players have been jealous of each other or haven't gotten along.
I think the 'wife community' of the NHL is such a dumb concept anyways, theirs no wife community in a regular workplace because women are now given greater opportunity in the real world and not shaking their asses on Instagram as hubby heads to practice or I don't know, creating fake accounts to harass other members of their 'wife community'.
