After the trade deadline, when is the earliest that Dorion could of traded Hoffman? Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think you can make trades after the TDL, but the players involved aren't allowed to play in the PO's?

If that is the case, Dorion messed up by not moving Hoffman the second he found out about his. Would be equally crappy if Dorion couldn't move him due to NHL trade restrictions as we are only 10 days away from the draft.

There's a bit of a code among GMs though. Not disclosing this kind of stuff might be offside.

I think most people (myself included) would say it would be a complete dick move on Dorion's part if he actually pulled it off, however, the other team has got to do its due diligence at the same time. One could also argue that a GM accepting this trade didn't do his research and has to live with the consequences. Dorion really doesn't owe any other GM jack.

BobMac and co. have a pretty good discussion about this exact issue up on TSN right now.

Considering this was known since early April and the attacks must be ongoing to feel the only course of action is through the courts, How does this work? The police can’t do anything cause it’s she said/she said and not enough proof for an investigation?

I care more about the type of person Hoffman is than his GF. If the Flames could get him at a discount that would be a big boost for the team.

According to the article, the police are investigating.

What should prove fruitful for the investigation is if Hoffman really means what he said in his statement and that they are willing to do anything to co-operate.

Turning over their computers, phones, ISP records, etc. could pretty much settle the matter.

Nah, screw that. The Flames don't need that kind of distraction, especially in a season where it's playoffs or bust. This team needs to be focused and needs to have a strong start out of the gate this year. Hoffman can take his baggage somewhere else, thank you very much.

At first I was indignant and a little outraged that so much of the CP community so quickly assumed guilt of Caryk, but with more and more hockey wives chiming in, I guess maybe they are not wrong. Still it is disturbing.
I particularly hate the idea of basing guilt off someone's appearance.

Did I miss something?... why is everyone assuming she's guilty?... could it be a mistake?

This will hurt Hoffman's value somewhat, but he's far from untradeable. Even if he knew what was going on, far worse people than Mike Hoffman have had long careers in the NHL. This is big business, and the business is about winning. If a GM thinks Hoffman will help his team win, he'll make a deal.

Likely already said in this thread, but do not want Hoffman anywhere near the Flames after all of this.

Recommend he goes to the Oilers. Or Vancouver.

Could be, but a lot of hockey wives are speaking up and it seems less and less likely a mistake.

A few hockey wives have chimed in already on twitter. Unless you want to think this is a conspiracy against Hoffs woman, there's plenty of smoke from people behind the curtain to believe the Karlssons aren't making this up.

I’d say something like this would have a significant effect on a locker room and subsequently the team’s ability to win.

Yikes.

Ottawa Sun says Erik Karlsson and Mike Hoffman had a face to face confrontation in a parking lot about this a few weeks ago.

The choice of confrontation as the word to describe it does not sound good.

Ya I get all that. But she felt the need to get this on court record now. Something must have happened.
