The leafs pair has scored 22 more goals. They have assists on 75 more goals. Combining for 97 more points. The ice time is very similar. I really don't see how this is a trade the Flames can or would turn down.

I'm not looking at Sam Bennett and TJ Brodie for the last 2 years and then looking to trade them. Both players were mis-used under Glen Gulutzan and struggled mightily at times. I think a new coach is going to be huge for both players, and the best course of action for the team in my opinion is to keep both players.

There was a reason Gully was fired. He couldn't get enough out of his players, and mis-used plenty of them.

Haha, Christ guys, we're not getting Nylander (a 60pt youngster on an ELC) for Brodie and Bennett, let alone another serviceable player coming back on defense.

He's in store for a massive raise this summer. I was listening to Toronto radio this morning and they are estimating he gets more than Pastrnak which I don't necessarily agree with but it's possible.

He's not wrong. Flames would easily win that trade, which is why the Leafs would never go for it.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Corey Perry mosey on over to our RW. I wonder if the Ducks would consider eating some salary. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them make some major changes.

I disagree. Gardiner is a massive step down from Brodie, and Brodie has worn out his welcome IMO. Nylander is a second rate winger cast ina system that allows him to rack up the points. Put both players in the Flames system and you have two players who are on the Sam Bennett level of ineffectiveness. Leafs would be massive winners in a deal of Brodie and Bennett for Nylander and Gardiner.

Don't worry about it because the minute you offered Brodie for Nylander Lou laughs and hangs up. Gardiner is better than Brodie, his numbers are better and except for one game in the playoffs his defensive play is better. Would you trade Gaudreau for Gardiner? Obviously not yet you think the Leafs would do an almost as lopsided deal from their end. Not saying Nylander is as good as Johnny right now but he has the tools to get damn close to that level.

Pretty low and petty? Check your posting history, it’s accurate. This isn’t specific to you or your ilk either. I would call a out the closet Habs fans as well, but they seem to stay way in the closet these days and keep their comments to themselves.

I see a bunch of people saying they wouldn't do the trade and that it's a bad trade for us. Yet I haven't seen one good argument to defend that.

I think it's a fairly even trade. I just don't what we'd do with Gardner.

But you were responding directly to my post with this comment (maybe because of the Raptors avatar?). I'm not from Ontario and only cheer for the Flames.

My comment was strictly based on the fact that Brodie and Bennett for Gardiner and Nylander wouldn't happen.
