GG will help the Oilers. Strategy and hockey theory is his forte, he's just not head coach material as he refuses to make in-game adjustments.

Course, GG didn't help the Canucks much as an assistant. We can only hope for the same kind of results.

typical click bait junk with misleading title.

They asked him if he was surprised and he said “But yeah it was a little surprising to me at the end for sure.”

That’s hardly clueless.

So we've got GG and Russell two former Flames working with the Oilers.

But who's the third member Schivane . . .Who's the third member

Isn’t Trent Yawney also supposed to be an assistant? There’s your trifecta? They’re still paying Ference aren’t they too?

As I mentioned last night, sure GG is a pal of McLellan, which is one fit. The other is Lowe and his ego loving the chance to stick it to the Flames by hoping thier just fired coach comes back to haunt them.

If GG knows the Flames weaknesses he sure didn't do (or was ineffective at doing) anything about it while he was head coach.

Also, no Flames coach in history has had a worse career record, both in total wins or winning percentage, against the Oilers, then GG did in his 2 year stint.

Closest is guy Charron and he had a win and a tie vs the Oilers. And he only coached about 18 games total after Riseborough stepped down as coach after losing 11-0 to the Canucks in 1992.

Hopefully GG tells chiapet how versatile Brouwer is and that the Oilers should trade for him ASAP.

They had a solid 2014-15 regular season campaign. Anyways, I won’t defend the Canucks and Oilers in the same thread as I feel gross and need a shower.

Fact remains he is probably a better assistant than coach. Good strategy guy without having to actually yell at anyone. He can be best buds with Pool party and be all “I believe in you buddy” when Todd loses his marbles on him.

Back up. Gully is actually going to be the assistant in Edmonton? I don't believe it.

Go ahead and second guess the obvious solution of ditching the disaster you were dating. Focus on whether that person will make a better partner in the future. But why? It was obvious as F that it was not working. So slowly and painfully obvious. And not just painful in a Christmas and Easter fight kind of sense, more like many times per night, and many times per week sense. If that's the kind of relationship you're looking for, well, go stalk the ex.

I, however, choose to breathe fresh air. I like to be with people that aren't so stubborn that I have flashbacks of Rainman. I like people that F-ing see that their way is not making progress, and it's time to try something else.

The dive has been doven. And once you dive it, it's dove. A dive is a dive, and you can't dive any deeper once you've doven to the very depths of diving deepness. Translation? GG is not a competent head coach. Let him Rain all over the Oilers, man.

Can't wait to see them on game 1, and have them all figured out for the entire year. Wait till you see how surprised GG is when Brouwer isn't on the PP. He'll probably stare at the floor for like 20 minutes over that head scratcher.
