I am glad Peters spoke about my two largest concerns.
Discipline, and the special teams. If Peters can help in those two aspects of the game, I think that secondary scoring will naturally get a boost.

This likely means we can scratch Huska's name as a likely hire.

The name "Bill Peters" does not contain an apostrophe.

That was an excellent press conference. At bare minimum I think we can all be confident that Peters won't hang his head and stare at his iPad when things go wrong but will be actively talking to the boys and whipping them into shape.
that alone is worth the change

In the 960 interview he talked about how you need to play your players where they are most comfortable and successful even if it goes against your system or beliefs.
Such a contrast from GG square pegs in round holes.
But part of me wanders if he was given some talking points to communicate to the fans.
Obviously Tre is aware of the negative reception this was met with so maybe they wanted to address the teams biggest fan perceived issues at the presser.
Brodie playing off side.
No square pegs in round holes.
Be ready.
Fast transition.
Quick starts in games.
Quick start to the season.
Not a bubble team and on and on.
All things we have been complaining about here.
Either way, he made a really good first impression on me.

Has Peters made sweet, tender love to a hockey stick yet?

At least that presser turned the temperature down a bit.

Really didn't seem like a guy who was talking off a list of stuff from Tre. he really seemed candid and honest.
If Tre is so worried and unconfident in his hire that he needs him to go and say certain things then we need to fire Tre immediately as he clearly is no longer confident enough to do his job.

2nd PP does not mean top 4 D.
That's like saying Hamilton is 3rd pairing because he was the last to kill penalties.

But he also, unprovoked I might add, mentioned Brouwer by name and said he'll bounce back.
You would figure that would be #1 on Tre's advice list.

Great Decisions Throughout History.
13th Century BC - Trojans GM, Priam, holds a press conference to celebrate the Greek army's retreat from their decade-long siege of the walls of Troy."We're going to set realistic expectations, and they're going to be high. That enormous wooden horse the Greeks left us will look great festooned with streamers along the Red Mile during our victory parade."
58 BC – Gaul’s GM, Vercingetorix, holds a press conference, at which he refuses to call out Gallic relief forces who decided not to attack Roman outer fortifications around Alesia. “I like to think of myself as being demanding, but not demeaning” said Vercingetorix, just prior to the capture of Alesia by the more experienced Roman coach, Julius “AV” Caesar.(The nickname “AV” was a shortening of the traditional Roman salute “Ave”.)
1812 - French GM, Napoleon Bonaparte, holds a press conference to announce the appointment of dashing cavalry officer, Joachim Muratto, to lead the 600,000 strong Grande Armee in its march to take Moscow. "I worked with him extensively in the planning for the World Championships in Russia. This is an individual I am familiar with. This was the individual -- at the time we made the change -- I was focused upon.Sure, he’s had no direct experience coaching an army against lice infestations, typhus infections, food shortages, freezing temperatures and Russian troops – but what are the chances that our team ever will face challenges like that?”
April 1846 - Donner Party GM, George Donner, holds a press conference to assure fans that his coaching staff's complete inexperience in the wilderness will not adversely impact their wagon train's trek to the California Gold Rush. "James Reed is a student of the modern wagon train game. This tastes like success to me."
1876 - Western Union GM, William Orton, holds a press conference to announce his decision not to pay $100,000 for Alexander Graham Bell's patent for the telephone, declaring the apparatus "Little more than a toy. The telegraph is more honest and direct when it comes to communications. That’s what’s important to this franchise."
September 1981 – British Owner, George V, holds a press conference to announce Private Henry Tandy’s decision not to shoot wounded 29 year old Bavarian dispatch runner Adolph Hitler during a bayonet charge outside the village of Marcoing, southwest of Cambrai on September 28. “Tandey is the most decorated British private in the War.He is extremely relationship-driven in his decisionmaking both on and off the battlefield. So, if he foregoes shooting the wounded to preserve his relationships within a Division, that's the right call. Besides, it’s not like foregoing to shoot a wounded Corporal from behind is ever going to come back and bite us in the ass.”
January 1962 - Decca Records GM, Dick Rowe, holds a press conference to announce their new signing of Brian Poole and the Tremeloes over The Silver Beatles. "They're both good, it's just that one's a local group and the other is from Liverpool.I'm always inclined to favour a local talent."
April 23, 2018 - Calgary Flames GM, Brad Treliving, holds a press conference to announce the signing of Bill Peters.

I am not implying that Tre isn't confident in this hire. I am sure he is.
I just thought that maybe they wanted the masses to be less critical so they threw in some candy at the crowd. And judging by my own view and this board in general I think it worked.

I wanted Sutter.
Listening to Peters talk to the Fan though, I'm on-board to fall in love with this man.
