Did Teravainen’s offense make Staal’s expendable? No.

Forget your what about ism, he wasted a top tier asset
Oh God, players have up and down years on all teams...compare Kopitars last two seasons...damn you Sutter!

What a terrible hire. Dude has lost at almost every level (*aside from one championship win at the dub) when it's not a group of superstars.

I would hope Tre gets canned early if the team performs poorly at the start and Peters, too.

What the hell has the fan base done to never deserve nice things?

How is Bill Peters a "passive coach"? What does that even mean?

Tied to a slow moving conveyor belt to a saw, a bunch of noise and stress for two years and then it finally gets to his junk. and BAM! fired.

I will give him a chance but I think Peters took a big risk coming to the Flames. If they miss next year ownership will be cleaning house top to bottom and the new guy will likely bring somebody else in.

I wouldn't want to come to a team with fans like this...as a player or a coach

When you say it like that it sure looks like he and Treliving are confident that they will succeed.

No, I didn’t say that.

Staal’s stat line is a fact. That there is correlation between coach and his stats is pretty obvious to me.
And you want to rationalize it. That is fine. But more of a stretch I think to dismiss impact of the coach.

Productivity of the team overall and of elite assets should be a concern.

Also, Canes fans brought it up, not just me.

Treliving has clearly put himself on the chopping block. I am going to try and get on board with this as I rather be optimistic in the summer than down on the team. This roster still has some great players and young players with very high ceilings. Let’s hope Treliving can swing a couple nice trades to get us excited for the upcoming season.

All I know is my patience with Peters is going to be far less than it would have been for Sutter or AV because I am very skeptical about this move. If the team gets off to a bad start I am firmly in the fire Treliving camp.

I really hope we are praising this hire in a years time

Fans from the team he just bailed on...lol

Well they must be right. Let me ask you this, are the Canes gonna make the playoffs with their new guy next season? I highly doubt it, look at their division.

If he's hired, the misuse of apostrophes on this forum is going to be even more unbearable!

Peters is a straight up Mike Babcock disciple.

Neither his style or personality would ever be considered passive.

Is it worse than being on a team without a GM who may fire him immediately anyway?

If Peters went to Dallas I would say Jim Nill’s seat is equally hot as Treliving’s.

He gets to come to his home and coach a team with good young players, a GM he has a good relationship with, and a team that spends to the cap

Well, if this doesn't pan out, at least we know there will probably be a complete overhaul of the front office after next season. I wouldn't be surprised if some other coaches like AV and Sutter were indeed contacted by the Flames at the tail end of the season, but turned them down. So Tre went with his next best choice in Peters.

Like many of you, I'm not exactly thrilled with this hire. But I think we need to give Peters a chance and see how it plays out before we start jumping off bridges. If we end up seeing a repeat of Gulutzan hockey after the first 15 or 20 games, then we can start screaming for blood. Until then, I'm on board and will be there in October to cheer the boys on as usual.

All I ask is that Tre hires some competent assistants who know how to run a goddamn PP.

I for one am going wait to see the roster moves Tre makes this offseason before I come to any opinion of the season ahead. I believe in Tre!
