1. Tippett - I think he can make this team 100 point team. I think, When we played against Phoenix with him, somehow we always fell their game plan and couldn't do much against it. He great to use players and always control the game.
2. Sutter - He is smart that he knows how to control players and make good team. But I think he may still hard coach for the players. Hope he doesn't go Edmonton. If they hire him they may win lots of 1-2 games and become more danger.
3. Hope we don't hire Trotz as he is almost GG type coach with same system. That system can work during no pressure early season games but very not good when game is tight.
Everyone here seems to have a hate on for Peters and I’m not sure why. Seems like a coach that has been brought down by a subpar roster and terrible goaltending the last couple of years. I would definitely take him over Tippett

Ill be honest....im disgusted by those of you who are celebrating people losing thier jobs. Have some empathy.
I agree a change needed to happen but its not the time to celebrate because we all assume the grass will be greener.
Pretty sure GG is not concerned or affected by what someone is saying about him on a message board. After all he has sat and listened to fans during games chant their unbridled opinions and accepts it comes with the job. That said, it is always good when people set a good example. Nothing wrong with showing empathy for a good guy.
So fire Ken King, problem solved. Hell, multiple problems solved.
You're not from Calgary. Ken King pretty much saved this franchise by finding local people willing to invest in it and keep it here, when it was poorly ran, unprofitable, on the verge of being sold and moved out. He's not gonna be fired any time soon.

In my case - I don't know if Peters is a bad coach. What I do know is that I am personally skeptical based on what little I've seen and what I've read about his style of play that he is a coach who can get a breakout from Sam Bennett or a return to form for Mark Giordano or TJ Brodie. In my opinion that's also true of Darryl Sutter. It's a fit thing with these two. That doesn't mean either of these two are bad coaches - but we need our individuals to fire on all cylinders and I believe the team results will follow. That said I do think it's funny that we're totally going to hire the guy who people want the least.
I'm unsure of AV - not because he's a bad coach but because his systems seem to be aging and he hasn't seemed to adapt. But if we hired him I would be comfortable with the hire.
I'm most interested in Ruff. He's been around forever but he's not rigid. The 2015-16 Stars played the kind of hockey that could both take the Flames to the next level and beyond to the Stanley Cup. I just see an overwhelming fit.
Keefe is probably the top coaching prospect in the game (although there are some others who don't seem to get the same press due to not being in Toronto, including Todd Nelson, but also Nate Leaman, Roy Sommer and Dan Muse). But Gulutzan has probably soured everybody on a green coach - the timing just sucks.
The coaches I want no part of on that list are Trotz, Eakins or Tippett. I've seen enough to know I want them nowhere near this team. Well, unless Trotz proves me wrong and takes the Caps to the next level this year, in which case he will not be leaving Washington anyways.
Overall, if we hire Peters, I'll be neither excited nor angry - but I'll be pretty impatient with the results because I don't see the fit and I don't think CP does either, which is what the poll results show.

That’s all you think that contributed to his 2 cups, and his finals appearance with the flames??? Actually???
I would also argue that this team is loaded with WAY more talent than the 04 group.
I’m a goalie, and Kipper was the greatest... but come on.
PS: Smith is no slouch.
His Cup run with Calgary was still in the clutch and grab era.
His Cups with LA were about the team getting hot at the right time. Those were not dominant Presidents Cup contending teams he was at the helm of. They never won a division title under his watch, and were usually a lower seeded team.
I'd rather have a coach with a track record of coaching his teams to 100+ point seasons, division titles and President's trophies.
I think you have a better chance of winning it all that way than slipping into the playoffs as a lower seed hoping to get hot, even despite LA's two Cup wins.

People keep saying he had such a terrible roster to work with and yet another poster pointed out Jeff Skinner was on the 3rd line because of their top 6 depth. Which is it? They also have unbelievable depth on D. I look at those rosters and they don't look that weak to me, his results were weak though.
Sheldon Keefe is an incredible coach and is poised for long successful NHL career, but I don’t think Treliving would go with him at this point. He would be my number one choice, but assuming he isn’t a realistic option: bring back Darryl!
Wonder if he would be a good associate under Darryl or AV? Doesn't hurt to have someone who can step into the wings later if needed!

Their goaltending was absolutely brutal this season and has been the past few years, generally.

Maybe. Who knows though. What if style of play had some impact the goalies' performance?
Khudobin went from a 0.926 before Peters to a 0.900 under Peters and has hovered around .910since since leaving Carolina
Eddie Lack went from a 0.921 in Van to a .901 under Peters
Scott Darling went from a 0.924 in Chi to a .888 under peters
I'm not blaming Peters for the Goaltending, but it's a possibility there's at least a partial causal relationship.
