Was this Insider Trading on TSN? Do you have a link? Thanks!

Both Dreger and Shannon have both mentioned ownership now when talking about Sutter

As probably mentioned, Treliving has to get this one right. Can he work with Sutter?
A Sutter/Peters combo, with Peters the built in succession plan, would be intriguing but likely not practical.

Or to put in another way - I don't care what fans say about him. Fans are often wrong.
They sure weren’t wrong about Gulutzan.

Very well might be true. But a lot of rumors, especially in small communities like this, kind of reverberate in a tin can. Multiple opinions don't really sway me in these situations

.
I don't think he is going to take another gamble. It is in his best interest to hire the guy that he thinks will give the best chance of winning. Anything else would be irrational. So if he hires Peters it is because he thinks Peters is the best guy for the job.
The only thing I do wonder is if the Flames simply aren't considered an attractive destination for the bigger name coaches, which limits the pool of candidates somehow.
But apart from that, why would BT hire anyone less than the guy he thinks is the best for the job? What would the motivations be?

Interesting angle that I feel is plausible. Sutter isn't getting any younger. And Peters can edge his skills with Sutter and then when Sutters coaching wall hits between years two and three, Peters steps right in. Continuity?

Can we just agree now that its done just to move on from the GG debate. I'm rather tired of it and would prefer to use this as an opportunity to collectively move on.

Why would Peters give up a head coaching gig to be an Associate here?

I think any ownership group would jump at the chance to land Sutter at this point. His coaching record speaks for itself.

With the recent trip to the ECF, I'm ok with that. Dave Cameron was fired to facilitate that move as well.

Well you said the fans shouldn’t be making decisions, but the collective thought
On this board when they hired Gulutzan was WTF. So while I agree fans are often wrong, I have no confidence that BT can get it right especially with these Peters rumours.

To me it has to be something like AV. He can’t go off-grid again.

Key things that stood out to me from Treliving interview on both fan 960 and the press conference:
1. Looking for an experienced coach
2. BT has a clear profile in his mind
3. Pushing players is still a big part of the coaches job.
4. Wants a coach that can think the new NHL game and be creative. This statement immediately followed item one.

Between the above, the Treliving connection and the hockey Canada connection of Brad Pascall, it's easy to see how Bill Peters could be an echo chamber hire.

Other candidates that I think would qualify:
1. AV
2. Sutter with the right assistant
3. TM if the oilers let him go
4. Maybe Tippet
5. Desjardin

I don't think even if they become available that the flames will chase: Ruff, Trots, Carlyle, Crawford..

I actually wouldn’t mind the thought of Todd McClelland if the Oilers let him go

Oh I think that's almost certain. We are not an attractive destination in this league. We're not a marquee city, we don't really have a track record of paying the big bucks for coaches and we're a couple big pieces away from being a contender.

Still some of 'his' guys on the roster too:

-Drafted Brodie, Ferland, and Backlund
-Signed Gio as a free agent

Also, I'm sure Sutter would be salivating at the thought of coaching a guy like Tkachuk. That kid is tailor made for Sutter hockey.
