Fair enough, I just think a guy who just scored 20, has improved every year and has the physical attributes that Ferland has shouldnt be moved

I disagree, I think his physical attributes alone give him good value and potential to build on a 20 goal season would have teams very interested in him.

Ferland can get better elsewhere. It's gonna take a while.

Ok, seeing how we are at a dead time for trades and just spitballing I will go the other way and address your top RW.
To Chicago: Dougie Hamilton, Michael Ferland, Sam Bennett.
To Calgary: Patrick Kane.
Calgary gets one of the best players in the game and would make our 1st line unstoppable. Chicago seems to be in a downswing after their dominance and get a #1 D man to bolster and aging group on the back end, a young player with still plenty of upside in Bennett, and a young gritty 20 goal scorer in Ferland. They also get much needed cap relief. Kane has a NMC but I think he would waive to play with JG on an upcoming Flames team. Fair or do we need to add more?

McKenzie speculated in his latest podcast that there will be players on the Sabres asking for trades out of Buffalo because of their bad season.

Lehner, Okposo, O'Reilly, Reinhart, probably Housley, maybe Mrs. Pegula. I can see a lot of folks wanting out of Buffalo.

First off I wrote two. Second, that is your opinion but you don't have to be a fly by jerk about it. What you are doing is why quality posters like FDW and others have stopped posting. Explain why you think they are bad or useless instead of just being a dick and doing a fly by post, it adds nothing at all to the site.

And I would classify those as ‘useless’.

Do you really think that trading your best players is actually a viable strategy?
What I find weird is that you thanked a bunch of posts about not trading Gaudreau... and then you write a post trading Gaudreau.
Chia-pet would be proud. There's nothing like trading down.
This team has a serious depth problem. A third line that is bottom 5 in the league, and a fourth line that is bottom 2. And a coach that keeps playing those lines consistently, along with morons like Brouwer getting PP time.
Keep Shore, trade Gaudreau.
Keep Brouwer, trade Gaudreau.
Keep Lazar, trade Gaudreau.
Keep Stone, trade Hamilton.
Ug.

Yes there's been some Willy nilly ideas about treading Gaudreau. But I've said it before and I'll say it again, you can trade Gaudreau but only IF the package is a massive overpayment which I think you can get. Will it happen? Highest probability is no.
No player should be untouchable if the circumstances were right.
I fully understand the vitriol over reading Gaudreau trade proposals. I was insane about the idea of trading hudler. Turns out trading Hudler when they did was perfect timing.

We're trading Gaudreau? Sweet, I want in on this.
Patrick, Provorov, Konecny, 2018 1st, 2019 1st for Gaudreau.
Make it happen Tre.

What? I was relating an emotional response. Not the quality of player. Emotionally, I was as attached to Hudler staying in Calgary as much as anyone else.

Yeah, I am probably in that over values Ferland camp.
I doubt any GM would see it differently than the more cynical types here. Given that, it is better to keep him.
This won't be a 'tweak' post season, IMO. First, new coaching staff.
I doubt we trade our stars, but strong secondary players like Brodie and Frolik are probably gone. For what they bring versus a kid and the premium you pay, they are not viable on this team.
IMO BT over did it on D last post season, and failed to fix RW and goalies.
That resulted in Brouwer play and Smith playing too much (with no proven backup).
So my expectation this post season is that BT get aggro to fix scoring (which he knew was a problem headed into the season) and get a strong plan B in net.
If BT fails, I will have as strong feelings about him as I do GG.
